CBSE Exam Update: The Central Board of Higher Education, on 27th August 2025, has released an important notice for the CBSE (LOC) for the academic year 2025-26.

All the school heads, principals are required to go through the fresh guidelines for the submission of the (LOC) for the 2025-26 board examinations for Classes X and XII.

What is LOC for CBSE?

LOC refers to the list of candidates, which is an official record that schools submit to CBSE containing details of students who will appear for the board exams.

Schools are required to be ready with all the correct information, including the candidate’s personal details, like correct candidate’s name/Father’s name/Mother’s name/ Guardian’s Name/ D.O.B, APAAR ID (for schools situated in India), the correct subject code, and subject combination as per the scheme of studies. (should be doubly checked by the schools) and category applying in – FS/ Improvement/ Compartment.

CBSE LOC Guidelines PDF & Notice 

All the candidates’ information submitted to CBSE is used by the authority to generate roll numbers, admit cards, exam required documents, and the allocation of the center. Candidates are required to provide and check all the correct details, as any error may lead to issues at the time of examination or during result declaration.

CBSE has also provided details about the two-board exam policy for class 10th, stating that this is the first time CBSE has introduced a two-board examination system for Class X. The CBSE class 10th Main Examination in February is now mandatory for every student.

Schools are also required to link each candidate’s APAR ID when submitting the LOC. Authority will not accept the submission without the link ID.

The circular explains all the actions schools need to take for the LOC submission and is divided into four parts for clarity:

  • Part I: Updates for the first time in LOC 2025-26, including the mandatory APAAR ID and the two-board examination system for Class X.
  • Part II: Preparatory actions schools must take before starting the LOC submission process.
  • Part III: Eligibility criteria for candidates for the 2025-26 LOC submission.
  • Part IV: Steps and precautions schools should follow while filling and submitting the LOC data.

Principals are requested to go through each part, understand, and initiate action so that the correct and timely submission of the LOC for all candidates of Class X/XII can be undertaken by them.
