Quantitative Aptitude (QA)
Most of your rough work will be here. You’ll write calculations, draw small figures for geometry, and try quick number checks. Give each question its own space. Keep the steps readable so you can verify an answer without having to start over.

DILR (Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning)
This section takes up space quickly because of tables, grids, charts, and elimination notes. Begin each set on a fresh page. Draw your table clearly once, so you don’t waste time rewriting. For logic sets, write short points and strike out options as you eliminate them.

VARC (Verbal Ability and RC)
You won’t use much rough work here. For parajumbles, note the sentence numbers and test a couple of orders. For RC, write down only a few keywords if the passage is dense. Avoid long notes; they take time and fill the page without adding value.

Once you understand how each section uses rough space, it becomes easier to plan how you’ll use the CAT exam rough worksheet on the exam day.
