CAT 2023/ 2024 Percentile

A Percentile represents the rank of the candidates in the examination. To calculate the percentile, the institutions follow the CAT marking scheme. The answers can be checked & a total score is determined.

The total score is adjusted through a process called “equating”. Then, the score is normalized across different sections. Thereafter the normalized score secured by the candidates will be further converted into percentiles for the purposes of shortlisting. The CAT 2023 result will be announced in January 2024. Candidates will be able to download their CAT 2023 score card via online mode.

The top B-Schools have a higher range of CAT 2023 cut-offs, 90+ percentile, while the mid rung B-School cut-off range, 75 to 80 percentile & the lower rung B-Schools have cut-off range is around 50 percentiles.

Candidates will get a call from different IIMs & other non-IIM management institutions on the basis of CAT percentile, CAT score & along with the sectional cut-offs for the next round.

Basically, IIMs gives weightage to CAT score in the range of 60 to 80% and the remaining is contributed by a candidate’s academic record & work experience.

IIM Ahmedabad: The Institution gives 70% weightage to CAT Score & 30% to the academic record, work experience & extracurricular activities. The Cut-off of IIM Ahmedabad is probably to be 99.5 percentile.

IIM Calcutta: This Institution gives 67% weightage to CAT score & 30% of the academic records. The remaining 3% are given to the girls candidates. The Cut-off of IIM Calcutta is likely to be 99 percentile.

IIM Bangalore: The Institution does not have the tough percentile criteria for a second round of short listing. The Institution gives major emphasis to the candidates academics record (Class 10, 12 and Bachelors) & CAT Percentile.

IIM Lucknow & IIM Kozhikode: These Institutions gives 70 to 80% weightage to the CAT Score.

Other IIM Institutions: All the other Institutions give overall weightage to the CAT score.
