What Are New CBSE Class 10 Answer Writing Rules for 2026?
For the CBSE 2025- 2026 session, the class 10th Science and Social Science question papers have been divided into different sections to improve the quality of evaluation.
The Science paper is divided into three sections, i.e:
• Section A: Biology
• Section B: Chemistry
• Section C: Physics
Similarly, the Social Science paper is divided into four sections —
• Section A: History
• Section B: Geography
• Section C: Political Science
• Section D: Economics
Previously, the board has released the CBSE Sample Papers. All the candidates can solve the Class 10th Science and Social Science paper.
As per CBSE’s instructions for the Class 10 board exams, students appearing for the Science and Social Science papers must follow a strict section-wise answer-writing format during the examination. The mandatory rules are:
- Students must divide the answer booklet into 3 sections for Science and 4 sections for Social Science before writing answers.
- Answers must be written only in the space allotted for the respective section.
- Answers from one section must not be written in another section. Mixing answers across sections is not allowed.
- If answers are mixed across sections, they will not be evaluated, and no marks will be awarded for those responses.
- Such mistakes will not be corrected even during verification or revaluation, meaning students cannot claim marks later.
CBSE has also asked “All schools to kindly ensure that required practice is done by the students in advance to ensure that they are not making any mistakes when writing Board examinations. Schools can also include these instructions in the Pre-Board examinations”.
As per the CBSE class 10th datesheet, the Phase 1 exams are going to be conducted between February 17 and March 10, 2026, and the Class 12 exam dates are from February 17, 2026, until April 9, 2026.
