Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is organised for admission to the PG courses in the field of Engineering & Technology, i.e. M.E/ M.Tech. Below, we are providing detailed information about GATE 2024 syllabus which includes each paper topics & chapters. Candidates must read from the given GATE syllabi & secure high marks in the examination.

In year 2022, two new papers were added – Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (NM), and Geomatics Engineering (GE). GATE 2023 was organised for 29 papers.

In year 2021, Two new subject papers – Environmental Science & Engineering (ES) and Humanities & Social Sciences (XH) were added in the GATE Syllabus.

In the year 2020, Bio-medical Engineering (BM) was added in the GATE 2020 syllabus.

General Aptitude (GA): Common For All Papers (Compulsory)

The General Aptitude Test syllabus will be common & compulsory for all papers. The topics will be as given here:

  • Verbal Ability: English grammar, sentence completion, verbal analogies, word groups, instructions, critical reasoning and verbal deduction.
  • Numerical Ability: Numerical computation, numerical estimation, numerical reasoning and data interpretation.

Syllabus of Aerospace Engineering (AE):

The AE topics will be divided into two categories: core topics & special topics. 90% questions will be asked from the core topics & 10% remaining questions will come from special topics.

Section 1: (Engineering Mathematics):

  • Core Topics: Linear Algebra, Calculus and Differential Equations.
  • Special Topics: Fourier series, Laplace Transforms, Numerical methods for linear and nonlinear algebraic equations, Numerical integration and differentiation. Complex Analysis, Probability & Analysis.

Section 2: (Flight Mechanics):

  • Core Topics: Basics, Airplane performance & Static stability.
  • Special Topics: Dynamic stability: Euler angles, Equations of motion, decoupling of longitudinal and lateral-directional dynamics, longitudinal modes, lateral-directional modes.

Section 3: (Space Dynamics):

  • Core Topics: Central force motion, determination of trajectory and orbital period in simple cases. Kepler’s Laws- escape velocity.

Section 4: (Aerodynamics):

The GATE 2024 Exam pattern will consist of the number of questions, type of question, marking scheme, papers, etc. In GATE exam, total 65 questions will be asked. The duration of the exam will be three hours. The question paper will be of 100 marks.

The question paper will be comprised of two sections: Multiple Choice questions & Numerical Answers Questions. For correct answer, one or two marks will be given to the students.
