Common Admission Test (CAT) is conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) rotationally. This entrance test is conducted for admission to postgraduate management programmes.

Steps to Register for CAT 2025

The CAT registration involves three simple steps:

Step-1: Registration
Step-2: Fill Application Form
Step-3: Upload Images
Step-4: Make Payment

Step-1 – Registration:

Step-1.1: Visit Online Website:

  • Go through the online website of CAT (link is given above).
  • Click the “New Candidate Registration” button.

Step-1.2: Fill Registration Form:

  • Fill out the registration form that appears on the screen.
  • In the registration form, the fields are: the name of candidate, DOB, Email Address, Country, and Mobile Number.
  • Enter the security code shown on the image.
  • Request OTP.
  • Enter OTP and click on submit.

Step-2 – Fill Application Form:

  • Click on “Go to Application Form”.
  • The application form will be displayed on your screen.
  • Application form will consist of five sections, namely,
    • Personal Details
    • Academics
    • Work Experience
    • Programmes
    • Test Cities
    • Declaration

Step – 2.1: Add Personal Details:

  • Candidate’s name will be automatically entered based on details provided during registration.
  • Enter candidate’s first name, middle name, last name, or surname.
  • Enter Father’s/ Guardian’s Name, Mother’s/Guardian’s Name, Spouse’s Name

Step-2.1.1: Other Personal Details

  • The date of birth will already be mentioned.
  • Enter candidtes gender, Nationality.
  • Now select category (General/EWS/NC0OBC/SC/ST)
  • If you are a Person with disability/ Differently Abled, then select ‘Yes’, otherwise ‘No’.

Step-2.1.2: Communication Details

  • Enter your Address Line 1,2, and 3.
  • Mention your country, state/union territory/district
  • Add your town/city and pincode
  • Select “yes/no” for whether is permanent address same as communication address.

 Step-2.1.3: Permanaet Address & Contact Details

  • Enter your Address Line 1,2, and 3.
  • Mention your country, state/union territory/district
  • Add your town/city and pincode.
  • Give the emergency mobile number and relationship with candidate.

Step-2.1.4: Documents To Be Uploaded

  • Select the “Click Here to Upload” option.
  • Then, as per the instructions, size, and format, first upload your passport-size photograph.
  • Now upload your scanned copy of your signature.
  • Once done, click on “save & next” option.

Specifications of Photograph and signature:

  • Upload a recent (within 6 months) passport-size photograph (1200×1200 px, white background, .jpg/.jpeg, max 80KB, min resolution 150px/inch). The same photo must be affixed on the admit card for the test on November 30, 2025.
  • Upload your scanned signature (80mm × 35mm, .jpg/.jpeg, max 80KB, clear and legible).
  • Upload a valid EWS/NC-OBC/SC/ST certificate in PDF format.
  • Upload a valid PwD certificate in PDF format (if applicable).

Step-2.2.1: Enter Academic details:

  • Enter SSC/ 10th Std/ Equivalent Details:

Candidates need to enter their 10th class details like aggregate marks, total marks obtained, maximum marks, SSC/10th board name, and month/year of completion.

  • Enter 12th Std/ Equivalent/ Diploma Course Details:

In this section, candidate’s have to select the course type from the options 12th or diploma. Enter your 12th class aggregate marks, total marks obtained, and maximum marks.

  • Enter Bachelor Degree Details:

Here, candidates will be asked whether they are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or have completed their Bachelor’s degree. Also, candidates have to fill fields that include total duration of degree, percentage of marks awarded by University/institute, type of University/institution, University name, degree name, year of course commencement, and year of completion.

  • Enter Master’s Degree Details:

If you have a master’s degree, then select yes in the field “Do you want to enter Master’s degree details?”. Enter all other details required in this section.

  • Fill Other Professional Degree Details:

If candidates have a professional degree such as CA, ICWA, CS, or others, then select the degree and enter marks, year of course commencement, and year of course completion. Click on ‘Save and Continue’ to move to the next section.

Step-2.3. Work Experience:

If you have work experience, then enter your work experience details. Enter work experience in months. Click on the check box of your work area and enter work experience for that. Click on ‘Save and Continue’ to proceed further.

Step-2.4: Programmes & Exam Centre:

Select the programme name. Candidates may select any number of programme names. Also, select the city for interview from the drop-down list. Students can select a maximum of 5 different cities to appear for the exam. Test centre allotment will be based on centre and node availability.

Step-2.5: Test Cities

Enter ant 05 perfer cites for the exam. In the first city preference, you can write the name of the city where you are living, followed by the cities nearest to you. Once done, click onthe  “save & next” option.

Step-3 – Fee Payment:

A declaration and the fees submission details and portal will be displayed on the screen. The application fee for General/ NC-OBC candidates is Rs. 2600/-, while for SC/ST /PWD (DA) candidates, it is Rs. 1300/-. Additional transaction charges are also included in the application fee. Net Banking/ Credit card/ debit card are the modes for the payment of the application fee.

After successful payment, a message regarding the successful payment of the fee is displayed on the screen along with the payment transaction number.

Confirmation Email:

You will receive a confirmation email after the successful completion of last section, i.e., payment. Candidates can take a printout of the filled-in application by logging in to the CAT website as an Existing User.

CAT 2025 Registration 

Candidates can now start applying for Common Admission Test (CAT) through the online mode only. CAT 2025 registration has begun on 1st August 2025. The registration can be done online on the website. The last date to register for CAT 2025 /2026 exam is 13th September 2025.

Candidates who will submit the application forms successfully will be eligible to take the CAT 2025 /2026 examination scheduled to be held on 30th November 2025.
