Admission into IISc is done on the basis of merit list of the qualifying examination. The merit is prepared on the basis of national level entrance exams.

IISc offers admission to Bachelor of Science (Research), M.Tech/ M.Des/ M.Mgt, Ph.D. / M Tech (Research) and Ph.D. (integrated) courses. Candidates will be able to check the admission process of IISc for various courses from below sections.

IISc UG Admission 2025

Admission procedure for UG programs of IISc will be conducted on the basis of various national level entrance exams like KVPY SA, SB, SX; JEE Main, JEE Advanced and AIPMT.

To take admission into IISc, students will have to appear any one of the national level entrance exams. The authority will release the cut-off marks category-wise for all the exams separately.

Counselling for Bachelor of Science courses (JEE Main) will be started through offline mode. The counselling for UG courses (JEE Advanced) will be organised through online mode. Candidates will have to register themselves in the website of counselling authority.

It will be compulsory for every qualified candidates to participate in the counselling process to confirm their seats in the Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme.

If candidates will get selected, they will be required to complete the admission formalities including payment of admission fees on the same day and begin attending the classes immediately.

The seats will be allotted on the basis of candidates performance in the examinations. At the time of counselling, candidates will have to produce their offer letter. For KVPY stream candidates, they also have to produce their provisional fellowship award letter.

Cut-Off Marks:

The IISC 2025 cut-off marks for shortlisted candidates will be different as per their categories & national level examination. Here, we have updated last year cut-off marks in KVPY-SA, KVPY-SX, JEE-Main, IIT-JEE-Advanced and NEET-UG stream:

IISc PG Admissions 2025

IISc PG admission will be opened for M.Tech/ M.Des./ M.Mgt, Ph.D. / M.Sc. (Egg.) and Ph.D. (integrated) programmes.

Aspiring candidates will have to firstly fill a mandatory application form for taking admission. The application form for PG courses will be made available from first week of February 2025 through online mode.

Admission to M.Tech/ M.Des/ M.Mgt Programmes:

Selection in M.Tech programme is done on the basis of valid GATE 2023/ 2024/ 2025 scores. Admissions into M.Tech disciplines like Climate Science, Computational Data Science, Earth Science, Electronic Systems, and Electrical Engineering will be done based on GATE score, aptitude test and an interview.

The aptitude test/ interview is organised from 14th April -5th June 2025. For M.Tech (Communication & Networks and Nano Science & Engineering), the selection will be based on the only interview.

Candidates will be selected for M.Des programme based on GATE/ CEED Score followed by a Design Aptitude Test and interview. For admission to M.Mgt, students must have GATE/ CAT/ GMAT scores. Selection will be followed by a group discussion and interview.

Shortlisted Candidates list for the aptitude test/ group discussion & interview round will be published in the applicant’s interface on the website of conducting authority under the application status link.

Selected candidates must take a printout copy of the interview letter from the candidate login. No communication will be made by post.

Candidates, those admitted to the M.Tech & M.Des courses, they will have to report to the institution for complete the admission formalities.

Admission to Ph.D Programmes:

Admission in the disciplines like Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Mathematical Sciences will be based on JAM 2025 scores followed by an interview.

Admissions into Ph.D programme (Biological Science stream) will be done on the basis of JAM scores only. Candidates with valid JEST 2025 scores will be eligible for admission in Physical Sciences stream. Selection will be based on JEST 2025 and an interview.

Note: Candidates appearing JAM 2025 Biological Sciences and Biotechnology paper will not be required to fill the IISc application form. Selection will be done only through JAM.

Candidates have to bring the given documents at the time of counselling/ admission:

  • Marksheet and Passing Certificate of Class X
  • Marksheet and Passing Certificate of Class XII
  • Qualifying Exam Degree
  • Admit Card (Qualifying Exam)
  • Score Card (Qualifying Exam)
  • Recent passport size color photograph
  • Domicile Certificate
  • Offer Letter
  • Category Certificate
