JEE Main Exam Pattern 2024

JEE Main 2024 Registration has been started from 2nd November 2023 for 1st session exam.

JEE Main 2024 Exam dates has been announced for both the sessions by NTA. The exam has been held between 24th January to 1st February 2024. There is no attempt limit in Jee Main examination.

For 2nd session, exam will be organised from 4th till 12th April 2024 through online CBT mode. We have provided the exam pattern of JEE Main 2024 as per the latest announcement.

JEE Main (B.E/ B.Tech) Exam Pattern:

  • Exam Mode: The examination will be conducted through online CBT mode. Drawing test for Jee Main Paper II (B.Arch) will be held through offline mode.
  • Subjects: JEE Main contain questions from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics subjects.
  • Type of Questions: Objective type -Multiple Choice questions and numeric type questions will be asked in the examination.
  • Number of Questions: Question paper contain 90 questions, in which candidates will have to attempt 75 questions. Choices will be given in section B.
  • Exam Duration: The exam duration is of 3 hours. 4 hours for candidates having 40% disability.
  • Question Paper Medium: The question paper medium is in English, Hindi, tamil, Urdu, Odia, Assamese, punjabi, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali for all centre cities. Students have to make option of language medium at the time of application process. No changes can be done later.
  • Marking Scheme: Each correct question will carry 4 marks.
  • Negative Marking: There will be deducted for each incorrect response. From this year, there will be negative marking in Section B. -1 mark will be deducted for incorrect responses in each section. In section B, for each for each question enter the correct integer value of the answer using the mouse and the on-screen virtual numeric keypad in designated place to enter answer. The answer must be rounded off to the nearest integer.

Note: In section B candidates will have to attempt any 5 questions out of 10.

JEE Main B.Arch Exam Pattern:

  • Exam Mode: The mode of exam for B.Arch will be online only. The drawing test of Paper 2 will be conducted through offline mode on a sheet of A4 size.
  • Subjects: The JEE Main will comprises of three subjects which are mathematics, aptitude test and drawing test.
  • Type of Questions: Objective type -Multiple Choice questions will be asked in section A & section B will contain questions whose answers to be filled as numerical value.
  • Number of Questions: 30 questions will be there in mathematics section; 50 questions in Aptitude test; 2 questions in drawing test. In mathematics, In section B candidates have to attempt 5 questions out of 10. There will be total of 82 questions in the paper.
  • Exam Duration: The duration of the exam will be 3 hours. 4 hours for candidates having 40% disability.
  • Question Paper Medium: Question paper medium will be Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu in addition to Hindi, English and Gujarati.
  • Marking System: Each question will carry 4 marks for the correct response.

JEE Main Paper (B.Plan) Exam Pattern:

  • Courses: The paper of B.Plan of JEE Main 2024 will be conducted for admission to undergraduate planning courses.
  • Exam Mode: The mode of exam of the paper is CBT mode only.
  • Subjects: The Paper comprises of three parts – Mathematics, Aptitude test and planning based objective type MCQs.
  • Type of Questions: Section A will contain Multiple Choice questions & Section B will contain questions whose answers are to be filled in as numerical value.
  • Number of Questions: 30 questions will be there in mathematics section; 50 questions in Aptitude test; 25 questions in planning. In mathematics, 20 questions will be of multiple choice type & 10 questions answers to be filled as numerical value. There will be total of 105 questions in the paper.
  • Exam Duration: The duration of the exam will be 3 hours. 4 hours for candidates having 40% disability.
  • Question Paper Medium: Question paper medium will be Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu in addition to Hindi, English and Gujarati.
  • Marking System: Each question will carry 4 marks for the correct response.

Answer: NTA has released exam pattern for JEE Main 2024. All the changes have been updated in our article.

Answer: 30 questions will be there in each PCM section. 20 questions are of multiple choice type & 10 numerical answer questions.

Answer: Numerical answer question will not have four options. You have to answer in integer or decimal value.

Answer: You can apply for JEE Main 2024 by online mode.

  1. What happens if a question is answered and also marked for review in the JeeMains? Does this answer given marks if found to be correct?

  2. What is the correct way of answering numerical type questions in jee mains 2021.
    For example if answer is 2 then the correct answer will be 2.00 or simply 2 ?

The candidates appearing for the Class 12 Board as well as JEE (Main) exam will have to provide information under “Whether appearing for Board Examination on any of the dates for May session” and select the ‘Date of their Class 12 Board Examination’ in their online Application Form so that there will be no clash of their schedule of JEE (Main) with Class 12 Board Examination.

    1. Yes, if any candidate did not apply for February Session, then he/she can apply for remaining Sessions. The JEE Main 2021 application window will be re-opened briefly immediately after the declaration of the result of February / March/ April Session.

  7. In connection with JEE Main 2107 Examination I am from Meghalaya and I do not have the Aadhaar no. Where do students from places like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam,Mizoram and Union Territories like Lakshdweep, Dadar & Nagar Haveli stand if our application form is rejected in the name of Aadhaar?   12. Negative marking deduction is of mark 1or 5 for each wrong question..? For nt attempting question marks are nt alloted or deducted .does those marks include in our total.please reply

    1. 1/4 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer…no marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.

    1. For each incorrect response 1/4 of the total marks allotted to that question will be deducted from the total score.
