JEE Main Paper Analysis 2026

Exams for Session 1 (January) have been started. Here we have updated shift wise exam analysis as per student’s feedback for JEE Main 2026:

21st January 2026 (Day 1):

Shift 1 AnalysisExam has been successfully conducted from 9 am to 12 noon for Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech).

According to the review of candidates, overall difficulty level of exam was – MODERATE to TOUGH

  • Physics section was considered easiest one.
  • Chemistry section, students found it to be the toughest one. There were 2 questions from Salt Analysis. 
  • In Mathematics section, there were more questions from vector, 3D topics. This section was considered moderate in difficulty level.
Shift 2 AnalysisExam has been successfully conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm for Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech).

Overall Exam difficulty level was Moderate.

  • Physics section was considered durable. Two questions were there from Modern Physics. Questions were from topics were Gravitation, magnetism, kinematics, circular motion, relative motion, 2 to 3 questions were from topics current, 2 questions from Modern Physics.
  • Chemistry section, some students found it tricky while some considered it tough. There were more questions from inorganic and less from organic. Questions included from topics – Periodic table, Thermochemistry, SALT Analysis, electrochemistry, coordination compound, etc.
    No questions from thermodynamics. Statement questions were included. Two questions repeated from 2025.
  • Mathematics section was considered lengthy by various students. Questions were from complex number, coordinate, circle, tangent question noticed. Vector 3D questions were tough while differentiation question was easy. No questions from probability.

22nd January 2026 (Day 2):

Shift 1 AnalysisJEE Main 2026 Exam Day 2 has been successfully conducted from 9 am to 12 noon for Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech).

As per the analysis of students PAPER WAS MODERATE in difficulty level. More of calculative paper.

Physics section was TOUGH.
Questions were asked from topics – rotation, kinematics, thermodynamics, modern physics. There were 3 questions from optics.

Chemistry section was hard. Questions from topics included organic chemistry. Question noticed from SALT analysis. Questions from other topics included thermodynamic, biomolecule, chemical bonding and from
NCERT also.

Mathematics section was Moderate.
Topics included coordinate geometry, Matrices, integration, probability. Question asked from hyperbola was simple. There were 3 questions from vector 3D.

Shift 2 AnalysisExam has been successfully conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm for Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech).

Overall Exam difficulty level was MODERATE.

  • Physics section was considered moderate to easy. Questions were asked from topics – biomolecule
  • Chemistry section was moderate in difficulty level. More Questions were asked from topics organic chemistry, coordination from inorganic chemistry, 4 or 5 statement based questions from periodic, chemical bonding, iconic, electro chemistry & thermodynamics.
  • Mathematics section was considered Lengthy and TOUGH by students.
    Questions were asked from topics functions, probability, sequence. 2 or 3 questions were asked from Vector 3D.

23rd January 2026 (Day 3):

Shift 1 AnalysisJEE Main 2026 Exam Day 2 has been successfully conducted from 9 am to 12 noon for Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech).

Overall Exam difficulty level was MODERATE. Previous year questions noticed in exam.

Maths – was considered to be lengthy to tough. Not got time to solve.

Chemistry – was considered moderate, tricky. Some considered easy. It was time consuming. Equal weightage in organic & inorganic

Physics section was considered easy. Questions were from topics ray optics, wave length, 4 law Maxwell, current, electrostatic.

Shift 2 AnalysisExam has been successfully conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm for Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech).

Overall Exam difficulty level was MODERATE.

  • Physics section was considered Easy to moderate.
    2-3 questions from Ray optics, 2 questions from modern physics, 2-3 from Fluid mechanics, Mixed from formula error, symmetry (ezero), question from mobility, pulley, 1 from thermodynamics, 4-5 statement based questions
  • Chemistry was considered Moderate to TOUGH
    This section had deep questions most were from organic chemistry. Inorganic chemistry had question from co-ordination topic. 4-5 statement based questions. Physical had numerical question less calculative. 2-3 questions from co-ordination , 3-4 questions from periodic table, 1 question from D-block, 2 questions from mole, wave number comparison, question from ionic (buffer)
    Note: Fine questions from organic chemistry and more questions are noticed in every shift.
  • Mathematics section was considered moderate and CALCULATIVE.
    Tough mostly students have attempted around 10-12 questions. 2-3 questions from vector 3d, 1 question from integration, quadric -1 question, set- 1 question, 1 from probability, 1-2 functions, 1-bionomial, sequence series (1 question),

💡 Some Tips by Students Already Attempted Previous Shifts –

  • Students must implement test strategy while solving the paper. The ones who will pick to solve good questions first can score well. 
  • Most beneficial if not solve in one round, but in various rounds as any subject can be tough. Don’t try to attempt paper once, atleast try to attempt in 2-3 rounds. First easy then moderate and then go for tough part.
  • In organic chemistry try to remember names also along with compounds because instead of compound names can be given.
  • Attempt formula based questions first. Give time to inorganic, theory should be remembered. Till now Physics has been considered easy section only if formulas are known to students.

24th January 2026 (Day 4):

Shift 1 AnalysisJEE Main 2026 Exam Day 2 has been successfully conducted from 9 am to 12 noon for Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech).

Overall Exam difficulty level was MODERATE.

Physics – Level of this section was medium. Some considered it lengthy.
Topics – microscope, 2-3 questions from ray optics,

Chemistry –
Questions from physical were tough, mixed questions (Thermo & iconic). More statement questions. 3-4 questions from co-ordination

Maths- was considered lengthy & TOUGH comparison to previous shift.

Shift 2 AnalysisExam has been successfully conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm for Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech).

Overall Exam difficulty level was MODERATE.

Mathematics – doable but lengthy difficult (toughest).

Chemistrylengthy and tricky numerical part. Some said it was TOUGH.
Combined question from two topics – electrochemistry and atomic structure

Physics – doable, some students reviewed this section as easy.

Day 5 (28th January 2026):

Shift 1 AnalysisJEE Main 2026 Exam Day 5 has been successfully conducted from 9 am to 12 noon for Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech).

Mathematics – It was considered LENGTHY.
Questions included from various topics – Vector 3D, conic section, circle, differential, quadratic, probability, 2-3 question from AP-GP, 2-4 questions from Co-ordinate, matrices (1 questions), 2 from integration, etc.
1 question from DELETED Topic was there from Ray Function.

Chemistry – It was considered LENGTHY.
There were 11-12 question in inorganic, inorganic (4-5 statement questions), physical had mixed numerical based questions.
There were lengthy questions in organic. All three physical, organic and inorganic had equal weightage.

PhysicsIt was considered to be easy to moderate. Students considered it doable.
1 question from modern physics, ray optics, prism, electrostat, current electricity, mechanic. There were 2-3 question from current.

Shift 2 AnalysisExam has been successfully conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm for Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech).

Overall Exam difficulty level was MODERATE.

Mathematics – Difficulty level was moderate.

Chemistry moderate to tough
Questions were from integer (electro+ionic mixed question), chemical kinetics, 7-8 questions from physical, 5-6 questions from organic, 2-3 statement questions

Physics – Difficulty level was easy to moderate. Students considered it was easiest of all three sections.

Day 6 (29th January 2026)- Paper 2 Analysis:

Paper 2 (B.Arch/ B.Plan or both)Exam has been successfully conducted from 9 pm to 12/ 12.30 noon for Paper 2 (B.Arch/ B.Plan and both).

As per the students review, overall MODERATE level.

Mathematics – Level of this section was Moderate to Difficult. Topics included 3D Geometry, Calculus, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, etc. Time intensive calculation were there making it tricky.

Aptitude test – Level of this section Manageable & straight forward.
Topics in this section included 3D visualisation, architecture awareness, symmetry/ projections, logical puzzles, spatial ability, etc.

Drawing test – Level was moderate.
Questions from B.Arch topics included creativity, perspective, proportion, shading and composition. The section rewarded conceptual design thinking rather than fine artistic detail.

In Planning their were MCQs based on general planning logic, architecture awareness, practical scenarios, part of aptitude component with more theory /application.

Here we have provided exam analysis as per last year for both sessions:

April Session Analysis:

Session 2 of JEE Main 2025 exams is scheduled from 2nd April to 9th April 2025. Complete analysis will be updated soon.

Day 1 (2nd April 2025):

Shift 1:

JEE Main Paper 2025 for April Session scheduled on 2nd April 2025 has been successfully conducted from 9 am to 12 noon. The Day 1 Shift 1 paper, as per the reactions of students was moderate in difficulty level. Comparing every section, Mathematics was considered most difficult followed by Physics and then Chemistry. The questions in Maths and Physics section were tricky.

The topics in Physics subject are with weightage with topics – Units and Dimension, Rotation, Pressure, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, etc. In Mathematics subject, weightage was from topics – Vector 3D, Conic section, Permutation and Combination, Circle, Binomials, Sequence and Series, Logarithms, Quadratic, etc. In Chemistry topics with weightage were – Physical chemistry, and Inorganic also had more weightage. Questions from Organic chemistry were fewer.

Shift 2:

JEE Main Exam 2025 scheduled on 2nd April 2025 Shift 2 has been successfully conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm. The overall difficulty level was considered as moderately difficult.

In Mathematics section, questions were asked from topics – coordinate geometry, calculus, and algebra being prominent, etc. Time management in this section played a crucial role as it involved lengthy calculations. In Physics section, the paper had questions from topics as Modern Physics, Capacitors, Ray Optics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects, Fluid Mechanics, Units and Dimensions, Rotation, Surface Tension, Semiconductors, Logic Gates, and Kinematics, etc. Overall Physics section was considered a bit tricky.

Chemistry section was considered easier than other two sections and had questions from topics as – Aldehydes, General Organic Chemistry, amines, and ketones. Inorganic Chemistry had questions from chemical bonding and coordination compounds. There were numerical problems from electrochemistry and chemical kinetics in Physical Chemistry.

Day 2 (3rd April 2025):

Shift 1:

For April Session JEE Main 2025 exam scheduled on 3rd April 2025 has been successfully conducted from 9 am to 12 noon for Shift 1.

According to student’s reactions, the exam was overall easy to moderate in difficulty level.

The topics from which the questions in Mathematics section were asked – Vector & 3D, Integration, Matrices and Determinants, Conic section, Parabola, sequence and series, areas under the curve, Circles, Function, etc. This section was considered lengthy but easy to moderate in difficulty level.

In Chemistry section questions were from topics – Organic had more weightage in this shift, Coordination Compound, Biomolecules, GOC, Hybridisation, etc. Students said this section was easier than other two subjects.

Physics was also considered easy to moderate in difficulty level. This section had questions from topics such as Wavelength, Modern physics, Ray Optics, Current Electricity, Units & Dimensions, Potential Energy, Semiconductors, Gravitation, Thermodynamics, SHM, Rotation, Magnetic Effect of Current, Wave Optics, Fluid Mechanics, etc.

Shift 2:

JEE Main Exam 2025 scheduled on 3rd April 2025, Shift 2 has been successfully conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm. The overall difficulty level was considered as moderate to difficult. Paper had mixed questions from easy to difficult ones.

  • In Physics section, students said that there were formula based, conceptual questions in the paper. Also, direct and various assertion -reason questions were included. Overall this section was moderate in difficulty level.
  • In Chemistry section, the overall review of students was moderate to tough. There were more questions from organic chemistry and required strong problem solving skills. There were tested basic concepts and theory based questions from organic & inorganic chemistry.
  • In Mathematics section, more focus was on concept based questions, and some were out of syllabus ones from conic sections. Paper was time consuming as there were lengthy questions. Overall, this section was easy to moderate in difficulty level.

Day 3 (4th April 2025):

Shift 1:

JEE Main 2025 exam Session 2 scheduled on 4th April 2025 has been successfully conducted from 9 am to 12 noon for Shift 1. As per the review of the candidates this shift was overall moderate in difficulty level.

In Physics section, topics with high weightage were – Semiconductors, Modern Physics, Magnetic Effect of Current, Dipole Movement and Torque, Mechanics, Electrostatics, Ray Optics, Fluid Mechanics, Wave Optics, Units and Dimensions, and Rotation, etc. So, this section was moderate in difficulty level.

In Mathematics section, questions were asked from topics – Straight Lines, Determinants and Matrices, Conic Sections, Ellipse, Integration, Area Under the Curve, Circle, Vector and 3D, Probability, Sequence and Series, Statistics, Inverse Trigonometric Function, etc. Overall, this section was considered lengthy and tough.

In Chemistry section, questions were noted from topics – Chemical Bonding, GOC, Biomolecules, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, CFT, Ionic, Coordination, Hydrocarbon, etc. Students reviewed this section as easy to moderate in difficulty level.

Shift 2:

JEE Main 2025 exam Session 2 scheduled on 4th April 2025 has been successfully conducted from 3 am to 6 pm for Shift 2.

According to the review of the candidates, the paper was overall easy to moderate in difficulty level. In Physics section, there were direct and conceptual questions with topics – Modern Physics, Mechanics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Optics, etc. Students noticed formula based questions & mostly from NCERT.

In Chemistry section, NCERT based & straightforward questions were asked. There were reaction and mechanism questions in organic chemistry and numerical based problems in physical chemistry. Overall this section was easy to moderate.

In Mathematics section, there were questions frequently from  topics – Algebra, Calculus, 3D Geometry, Probability, Coordinate Geometry, etc. This section was considered calculative and time consuming by candidates. Because of its lengthy calculations this section was considered to be toughest one of all three sections.

Day 4 (7th April 2025):

Shift 1:

JEE Main 2025 exam Session 2 scheduled on 7th April 2025 has been successfully conducted from 9 am to 12 noon for Shift 1. As per the review of the candidates this shift was overall moderate in difficulty level.

The Mathematics section was considered tough and lengthy. Overall it was moderate level difficulty level. Mostly questions were asked from topics – Vector and 3D, Parabola, Conic Sections, Integration, Straight Lines, Limit and Continuity and ProbabilityCircles, Permutation and Combination, Sequence and Series, Quadratic Equation, etc.

The Physics section was considered easy to moderate in difficulty level. The weightage of the questions in the paper was from topics – Modern Physics, Current Electricity, Ray Optics, Electrostatics, Work and Energy, Units and Dimensions, Magnetic Effect of Current, Rotation, EM Waves, Friction, Elasticity, Semiconductor, etc.

The Chemistry section was considered lengthy and moderate in difficulty level. The questions weightage were from topics – Biomolecules, Periodic table, Coordination compounds, Salt Analysis, Chemical Equilibrium, etc.

Shift 2:

The Shift 2 exam of 7th April 2025 for B.E/ B.Tech has been successfully concluded. As per the students reactions, the paper was overall moderate to easy.

Physics:

In Physics section, direct questions were asked by NCERT. This section was considered manageable and scored by students. Overall it was easy to moderate in difficulty level.

Chemistry:

In Chemistry section, straightforward numerical problems were asked in the physical chemistry section. direct and factual questions were there in inorganic part which focused on the importance of NCERT revision.

Mathematics:

Mathematics section was considered the most lengthy and time consuming paper. Students reviewed it as moderate in difficulty level.

Day 5 (8th April 2025):

The overall JEE Main Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) second shift, held from 03:00 P.M. to 06:00 P.M., was of easy to moderate. According to most candidates, Chemistry was the easiest section. In Section B of Chemistry, most questions were from Physical Chemistry.

Physics, which had been considered the easiest in previous shifts, was reported to be slightly tougher on April 5. The pattern was different, and several questions required 6–7 steps of calculation.

Mathematics was considered easier compared to other shifts, but it was lengthy. There were questions from  Vector 3D—three questions in total, two of which were specially designed and directly from Vector and 3D Geometry. There were also two questions from Quadratic Equations and two from the Conic Sections, both with a good level of detail. Section B in Mathematics was a bit more difficult than Section A, with Section A scoring more overall.

Day 6 (9th April 2025):

The JEE Main 2025 Paper 2 (B.Arch/ B.Plan) was considered overall moderate in difficulty level by the test takers. There were questions from topics – Arithmetic reasoning questions were there this time, Mathematics was comparatively difficult.

Architecture awareness questions were easy to moderate & Non-verbal part was easy. Candidates reviewed drawing section as easy, but the treehouse question was unexpected and time-consuming. There were many full form questions, many statements and match the following questions in paper. Most of the questions were NCERT-based. Mathematics was difficult than other sections.

January Session Analysis:

Session 1 of JEE Main 2025 exams is scheduled from 22nd January to 30th January 2025. Complete analysis is updated below:

Day 1 (22nd January 2025):

Analysis According to Students (Shift 1):

JEE Main 2025 Exam scheduled on 22nd January 2025 for Shift 1 has been successfully conducted from 9 am to 12 noon. As per the student’s reactions, Paper was overall considered MODERATE in difficulty level.

Talking about the section wise analysis of students, the Physics section had questions from topics – thermal physics, circuits, projectile motion, electromagnetic waves, diodes, and modern physics. So, this section was easy to moderate in difficulty level.

Chemistry section noticed some topics such as – Biomolecules Organic, Catalysts, Mole concept, etc. Physical chemistry had more weightage and was considered easy to moderate in difficulty level.

Mathematics section was considered lengthy by the students. The topics that are asked in the paper – Probability, Statistics, Vectors Matrices and Determinants 3D geometry, etc.

Analysis According to Students (Shift 2):

JEE Main 2025 Exam scheduled on 22nd January 2025 for Shift 2 has been successfully conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm. As per the student’s reactions, Paper was overall considered MODERATE to tough in difficulty level.

Talking about the section wise analysis of students, the difficulty level was moderate in Physics section. While Chemistry section was considered easy. Students said that Mathematics section was considered lengthy by the students but was easy.

Day 2 (23rd January 2025):

Analysis According to Students (Shift 1):

JEE Main 2025 Exam scheduled on 23rd January 2025 for Shift 1 has been successfully conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm. As per the student’s reactions, Paper was overall considered MODERATE in difficulty level.

Talking about the section wise analysis of students, the Physics section & Chemistry section were considered easy to moderate. Students said that Mathematics section was tough & lengthy in difficulty level.

Analysis According to Students (Shift 2):

JEE Main 2025 Exam scheduled on 23rd January 2025 for Shift 2 has been successfully conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm. As per the student’s reactions, Paper was overall considered MODERATE in difficulty level.

Talking about the section wise analysis of students, the Physics section had questions from topics – current electricity, rotation, capacitance, etc. While Chemistry section was considered a bit lengthy. Also, there were more questions from Organic chemistry than physical chemistry. Students said that Mathematics section was considered moderate for some students and tough for others.

Day 3 (24th January 2025):

Analysis According to Students: (Shift 1)

JEE Main 2025 Exam scheduled on 24th January 2025 for Shift 1 has been conducted successfully from 9 AM to 12 Noon. As per the reactions of aspirants, the paper was moderately difficult.

As per the students perspective, the Mathematics sections were moderately difficult as it is the most challenging section because of its extensive calculation, together with complex problem solving methods. The overall difficulty level of Physics sections was higher than in previous year as it focused on problem solving skills. The chemistry section was quite easy, as it followed the NCERT syllabus and had a balanced mix of Physical, Organic, and Inorganic chemistry.

Analysis According to Students: (Shift 2)

JEE Main 2025 Exam scheduled on 24th January 2025 for Shift 2 has been conducted successfully from 3 PM to 6 PM. As per the reactions of aspirants, the paper was considered moderately difficult.

From the student’s perspective, the Physics section was considered difficult than the other two sections. Questions were from topics – Current, Magnetic, Cylinders, Modern Physics, Semiconductor, Gravitation, etc.

About Chemistry & Physics section, they reported an easier comparison to Mathematics. Topics asked in Chemistry section were Coordination Compounds, Inorganic Chemistry, Aromatic Compounds, Physical Chemistry, etc.

In Physics section, questions were from topics Radioactive decay, Gravitation, Electrostatics, Thermodynamics, Diode, galvanometer, etc.

Day 4 (28th January 2025):

Analysis According to Students: (Shift 1)

JEE Main 2025 exam scheduled on 28th January 2025 for Shift 1 has been conducted successfully from 9 AM to 12 Noon. The paper was moderate to difficult, as per the reactions of candidates.

According to the aspirant’s perspective, the Physics section was the most challenging and a bit difficult. Mathematics and Chemistry section was moderate.

JEE Main 2025 (28th January Shift 1) paper will offer valuable feedback on the types of questions, the level of difficulty, and how to approach various subjects effectively.

Analysis According to Students: (Shift 2)

JEE Main 2025 exam scheduled on 28th January 2025 for Shift 2 has been conducted successfully from 9 AM to 12 Noon. The paper was moderate to difficult, as per the reactions of candidates.

According to the students, Physics section was moderate with balanced application based & theory based questions. Chemistry section was easier in comparison to other two sections.

Mathematics section was slightly challenging, with questions moderate to high in difficulty level.

Day 5 (29th January 2025):

Analysis According to Students (Shift 1):

The complete paper analysis for JEE Main Paper 1 Shift 1 for 29th January 2025 has been updated. According to a review of students, the exam paper was overall easy to moderate in difficulty level.

The Physics section had lengthy questions and topics were – Wavelength, Dimensions, Kinetic Energy, period in Pendulum, etc. So, this section was considered easy to moderate. In Chemistry section, the difficulty level was considered easy to moderate by candidates. Whereas, Mathematics section was considered lengthy or time consuming of all three sections.

Analysis According to Students (Shift 2):

The JEE Main 2025 Paper of 29th January 2025 was moderate in difficulty level. It was easier than the shift 1 paper according to students.

About section analysis, Physics section was mostly formula based and moderate in difficulty level. Of all three sections, mathematics was considered toughest section. Also, it was lengthy. The chemistry section was easiest one.

Day 6 (30th January 2025):

Analysis According to Students:

The complete paper analysis for JEE Main Paper 2 has been updated. The B.Arch/ B.Plan exam has been successfully conducted from 3 pm to 6.30 pm. According to students’ reactions, the paper was overall moderate in difficulty level.

According to section wise analysis, Drawing section and Aptitude section were considered manageable. Whereas, Mathematics section was considered challenging by students.

What After JEE Main 2026 Exam?

National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the Optical Response Sheet (ORS) and answer keys after the exam. Candidates will be able to match their answers and get a clear idea about expected marks.

If any candidate has any doubt regarding any question in the JEE Main 2026 answer key, they will be able to challenge the answer to that question by submitting a justification of the answer through challenge form on the website.
