How to select a college in JoSAA counselling? Does JoSAA automatically lock choices? Is choice filling and choice locking same in JoSAA counselling? | Choice filling and choice locking are not the same in JoSAA counselling. Choice filling is the process where candidates select and rank their preferred colleges and courses. They can enter as many choices as they wish. Whereas choice locking is mandatory. Once you have finalized your options, you must lock your choices before the deadline. Locking your choices is mandatory. |
How many seat allotments are there in JoSAA? What is mock seat allocation in JoSAA? Is there more than one mock seat allocation in JoSAA? | A seat allotment is the official allocation of seats based on the candidate’s choices, rank, and seat availability. A mock seat allotment, on the other hand, is a trial round that gives candidates an idea of which college they might get based on their current preferences. Mock and final seat allotments are not the same. JoSAA conducts 2 mock allotments and 5 rounds of actual seat allotment. |
What are ‘freeze’, ‘float’, and ‘slide’ options in JoSAA? Can I select all the options together? What is the difference between float and slide in JEE Main counselling? Is it mandatory to use ‘freeze’, ‘float’, and ‘slide’ options in JoSAA counselling? | The Freeze option in JoSAA counselling means you accept the allotted seat and do not wish to participate in further rounds. Float means you accept the current seat but are open to getting a better (higher-preference) seat in any institute. Slide means you accept the current seat but would like to upgrade to a better course within the same institute. JEE aspirants are not allowed to select all three options together. It is not mandatory to use all three options, but once a seat is allotted, you must choose one of them to proceed further. |
Can I unlock my choices after locking them in JoSAA? Is it allowed to change choices once selected? Can I make changes after locking choices in JoSAA counselling? Will my choices be considered if I don’t lock them? | You can change or rearrange your choices any number of times before locking. But once you lock your choices, you can’t edit or unlock them. If you don’t lock manually, your last saved choices will be auto-locked at the deadline and used for seat allotment. So, review carefully before locking. |
After JoSAA Counselling, all candidates should note that getting a desired seat or a seat allotment is not the end of the JoSAA counselling process. After being allotted a seat, you must complete the remaining steps, such as submitting the required documents to the college, reporting to the allotted institute, and more. Missing any part of the post-counselling process can affect your admission status.
