KCET 2019 Syllabus

The KCET 2019 Syllabus is based on the latest syllabus of First and Second year of PUC as issued by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State.

The syllabus have topics from various subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics/ Biology. The detailed Karnataka CET 2019 syllabus are mentioned here:

Physics Syllabus:

Physical World and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy & Power, Motion of System of Particles & Rigid Body, Properties of Bulk Matter, Gravitation, Thermodynamics, Behaviour of Perfect Gas & Kinetic Theory and Oscillations & Waves.

Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current & Magnetism, Electromagnetic induction & Alternating Currents, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter & Radiation, Electromagnetic waves, Atoms & Nuclei, Electronic Devices and Communication systems.

Chemistry Syllabus:

Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Chemical Bonding & Molecular Structure, States of Matter: Gases & Liquids, Chemical Thermodynamics, Classification of Elements & Periodicity in Properties, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Hydrogen, S-Block Elements, Hydrocarbons, Some p-Block Elements, Organic Chemistry and Environmental Chemistry.

Solid State, Solutions, Electro chemistry, Chemical Kinetics, General Principles & Processes of Isolation of Elements, d and f Block Elements, Surface Chemistry, Co-ordination compounds, Biomolecules, Aldehydes & Ketones & Carboxylic Acids, Alcohols, Phenols & Ethers, Haloalkanes & Haloarenes, Organic compounds containing Nitrogen, Polymers and Chemistry in Everyday life.

Mathematics Syllabus:

Algebra, Trigonometry, Two-dimensional Coordinate Geometry, Probability, Vectors, Statistics, Differential calculus, Integral calculus, Three dimensional Coordinate Geometry, Ordinary Differential Equations and Linear Programming.

Biology Syllabus:

The biology syllabus will be divided into two sections, i.e. Botany and Zoology. Some major Botany topics are Cell Biology & Genetics, Histology & Plant Anatomy, Diversity of Plant Life on Earth, Introduction to Ecology & Taxonomy.

The Zoology section contain topics like Tissues of humans, Digestion, Circulation, Respiration, Nervous System, Origin Of Life, Human Reproduction, Organic Evolution, Animal Resources & Human Welfare Dairy, Study of the Cell, Developmental Biology, Diversity of Animal Life and Cell Division.

KCET Exam Pattern

The examination will be organized through offline mode (pen and paper based mode). In the examination, total 180 objective type questions will be asked. Candidates have to appear only for one examination from Biology/Mathematics. Physics & Chemistry questions will be compulsory for all students. For correct answer, one mark will be allotted to the candidates.

    I have got both bio as well as math column in my admit card for kcet exams but acc to my knowledge i applied for mayhs only does it mean that i have to write both or can i opt one among them

    Since i have applied for Pharmacy, what are the subjects to be taken for examination under CET, is mathematics is included or only physics, chemistry and biology is there.

    As you told any one of the subjects should be choosen like in maths or bio.but in my hall ticket I have got both columns ,so should I attend both the exam.

      No, it’s not 50-50 of 2nd pu and 1st pu… 2nd pu is given more preference…! according to my info, I guess its 20% 1st pu and 80% 2nd pu..!

      There is no much difference between state syllabus and ncert the only difference is on top of the book its mentioned published by gov of Karnataka and the ncert is gov of India so… no much difference … :)just check it out for your clarification…..!
