Admission Procedure

Admissions into law courses are done by both; through the entrance examinations and direct admissions. There are several national level and state level examinations that are organized by various authorities for providing admissions into various online law programmes. While some colleges offer direct admission to students on the basis of merit list of qualifying examinations.

Entrance Exam

Some national level entrance examinations such as CLAT (Common Law Admission Test), AILET (All India Law Entrance Test), AIBE, LSAT and many others are considered for admissions in law courses across the country. While some states separately conduct their own entrance test like AP LAWCET, TS LAWCET, RULET for screening candidates for admissions in law courses.

There are many top law colleges in India, which provide UG, PG and other courses in law field such as National Law Universities, Uttaranchal University, Symbiosis Law School, ICFAI University, ILS Law College, University of Delhi and many others.

Law Admission 2017

The application form for the CLAT 2017 examination has been released from 1st January 2017. Candidates can fill and submit the application form through online process. The examination will be conducted on 14th May 2017.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • There is no upper age limit restriction for CLAT exam.
  • For UG courses, candidates must have passed the 12th or equivalent exam with securing 45% marks for general categories and 40% marks for reserved categories.
  • For PG courses, students should hold an LL.B or equivalent degree with obtaining minimum 55% mark for general categories and 50% marks for SC/ST categories.
  • Candidates appearing in qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.

Selection Procedure

Some universities offer direct admission in law courses on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying examination. For admissions in law courses, candidates are required to appear in the counselling process. Candidates are required to choose the college where they wish to take admission. After counselling, seats will be allotted to students on the basis of rank and choices locked by the candidates. After seat allotment, students are required to report to the allotted college for admission.
