Admission Procedure

Students can apply for admission in law courses on the basis of national and university level examination or through merit basis. There are several universities in Punjab, which conduct their self entrance test for providing admissions in law courses & online law courses. Some colleges also offer admission on the basis of merit drawn as per the performance in the qualifying exam.

Entrance Exam

Any state level exam is not organized in Punjab for admissions in law courses. CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) is a national level entrance test for law courses organized by NLUs on rotation basis. This examination is organized for selecting the students for admission in UG, PG and integrated law courses.

There are several famous law colleges in Punjab. Some top law colleges in Punjab 2017 are as Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Army Institute of Law, Department of Law, Punjabi University, Guru Nanak Dev University, etc.

Law Admission 2017

Candidates can get the application form of CLAT 2017 examination from 1st January 2017. The last date for submit the application form will be 31st March 2017. The CLAT examination will be organized on 14th May 2017.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • There is no upper age limit for appearing in CLAT exam.
  • For integrated UG programmes, students should be completed 12th or equivalent exam securing 45% marks for general category and 40% for reserved categories.
  • For PG courses, candidates must hold an LL.B or equivalent degree from any recognized college or university.
  • Appearing candidates are also eligible to apply.

Selection Procedure

Students can apply for admission through entrance examination or merit base or as per given rules and regulations. Students will be invited for counselling procedure on the basis of rank or their performance in the entrance test. In counselling process, candidates will choose the colleges as per their choice. Seats will be allotted to students on the basis of their rank, availability of seats and choices filled. Students are required to report to the allotted college with required documents for further admission process.

Documents Required

Following documents will be required at the time of document verification process:

  • 10th class mark sheet & passing certificate.
  • 12th class mark sheet & passing certificate.
  • Passport size photographs.
  • Rank card & admit card of the entrance exam (if any).
  • Category certificate (if applicable).
