State Exam

The candidates seeking for the admission in undergraduate engineering courses have to apply for the JEE Main 2016 entrance examination conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). This is the national level test conducted every year. Some of the engineering institutes also organize their own entrance test. RIST (Regional Institute of Science and Technology), Meghalaya conducts the ERDF CET entrance test for the B.Tech admission.

B.Tech Admission 2016

The admission to the undergraduate engineering courses offered by the several colleges of the state will be done on the basis of the JEE Main 2016 entrance exam or the exam conducted by other colleges separately for the admission in their colleges. JEE Main 2016 application form has been provided the month of December, 2016. Only the qualified candidates of JEE Main 2016 will be able for the future admission process. It must be required for the candidates to check the following eligibility criteria before appearing to the test.

  • It is mandatory for the candidates to have physics and math as a compulsory subject with chemistry, biology and computer science (optional) in 12th
  • Must have minimum aggregate of 50% marks for appearing in JEE Main 2016.
  • The candidate’s age must be on or after 1 October, 1990. 5 years age relaxation is given to the SC/ST/PwD candidates.

Documents Required

The candidates will be required to produce following documents during counselling process:

  • Candidates domicile
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Character Certificate
  • Certificate of Caste/Physical Disability (if any)
  • Class X original mark sheet and passing certificate
  • Class XII original mark sheet and passing certificate
  • Seat Allotment letter
  • Rank card & admit card of the entrance exam.

Selection Process

Candidates are required to apply online for the application form of JEE Main 2016 for the admission in B.Tech program of Meghalaya state. The admissions will be done on the basis of merit list that shows the names of the candidates according to the rank scored by them in JEE Main 2016 or other entrance exam. The priority is given to those candidates who secured highest rank. After the publication of merit list, students are called for the counselling process. During the counselling procedure, candidates have to select the choices for the colleges and stream. Seats are allotted to the candidates on the basis of rank scored and the choices of their preference. The candidates are required to report to the assigned institute with seat allotment letter for taking admission in B.Tech. The admission is only confirmed after the successful payment of the admission fee.
