NExT 2023 (Mock): Exam (Deferred), EUC Generation (Open)

NExT 2023As per an official of NMC, NExT (Mock) 2023 has been cancelled. As per NMC notice, NExT Exam has been deferred until further notice by MoHFW. As per the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, NExT will be applicable for 2020 MBBS batch onwards and not for 2019 MBBS batch.

National Medical Commission (NMC) has decided to conduct National Exit Test (NExT) from the year 2024 onwards. This is a uniform entrance exam conducted for certifying the eligibility of medical graduates to register for practice modern system of medicine in India and serve as Licentiate exam. Also, this exam is conducted for determining the eligibility & ranking for admission of desirous candidates who want to further pursue PG medical education in the country in broad medical specialties in various medical institutions.

Form 2024 year, NExT exam will be held in two sessions – May/ November. This entrance exam is conducted in two stages – Step I (CBT exam) & step 2 (practical or clinical/ viva voce exam). NMC has entrusted AIIMS, New Delhi for conducting the practice/mock test & step-I CBT exam. NExT will be replacing FMGE & NEET PG exam from the year 2024. NExT 2023 Application Form

Check below about NExT 2023 Registration details for Mock/ Practice test:

  • The online portal has been opened to apply for NExT 2023 Mock/ Practice test.
  • Online registration process for mock is open from 28th June 2023.
  • Last date to register is till 10th July 2023 for practice test.
  • The application process is divided into three stages – Online registration & entering basic information, Generation of EUC code & completion of application.
  • Status of registration can be checked from 11th to 12th July 2023. Final status of application will be updated on 13th July 2023.
  • The exam unique codes (EUC) can be generated from 28th June to 14th July 2023 whose basic information is accepted.
  • Students must be careful while entering details in application as changes may not be possible after fee & application submission.
  • During registration, applicants must ensure to submit valid/ active email ids & mobile number as all communication will be done through it.
  • The applications for NExT 2024 will be available soon for May session 2024.

Registration Fee:

  • Candidates applying for NExT 2023 mock/ practice test are required to pay application fee using digital mode only.
  • Fee payment can be done through debit card/ credit card & net banking methods only.

How to Apply for NExT Mock /Practice Test 2023

To know step by step procedure to register for NExT 2023 Mock/ Practice, check below:

  • Visit the online website (Link is available above)
  • Click on option –‘Proceed to Basic registration form’.
  • Now click on option provided under ‘New registration zone’.
  • After this, application instructions will be provided on the screen. Go through the instructions carefully and click on proceed button.
  • Now fill form displayed on screen, entering your basic details – personal, contact, address, and register by confirming the declaration.
  • Now upload the images – scanned photograph, signature, thumb impression, category certificate, etc. as per mentioned format/ size.
  • Now pay application fee as mentioned according to category.
  • Generate confirmation page and print the application form.

NExT 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Before registering, carefully check complete NExT Eligibility for practice/ mock test:

  • Candidates in the final year of MBBS course in recognized medical/ institutions in India /approved by NMC are eligible to apply.
  • All foreign medical graduates approved by NMC for purpose of obtaining a license to practice medicine as registered medical practitioner in India.
  • Any candidate who has a medical degree for purpose such as pursuing an academic course, observership or any other purpose as may be specified and approved by NMC.

NExT 2023 Exam Pattern

  • Exam mode: The mock/ practice test will be held in CBT mode.
  • Time & Shifts: It will be held in two shifts – 9 am to 12 noon & from 2.30 pm to 6pm.
  • Duration: Paper I will be of three hours & Paper II will be of three & a half hours.
  • Type of Questions: There will be Multiple choice questions (MCQs) with single correct answer.
  • Number of Questions: There will be 120 questions in Paper I & 140 question in paper II.
  • Marks: For every correct answer, 1 mark will be awarded.
  • Negative marking: For each incorrect answer, -1/4 mark will be deducted.

For Paper I:

Medicine & allied subjects, Paediatrics and Ophthalmology (including applied aspects of these subjects covered under I, II and III MBBS course).

For Paper II:

Surgery and allied subjects, obstetrics and gynaecology and Otorhinolaryngology, including applied aspects these subjects covered under I, II and III MBBS course.

Students appearing for practice / mock test must go through below NExT preparation tips to score well in the test:

  • Go through complete pattern, syllabus & information brochure details before starting preparation.
  • To score well you must be aware of the exam completely, appear for the mock/ practice test.
  • An early start for exam preparation will be fruitful for the candidates.
  • Make notes of important topics and go through them regularly.
  • Revision is the key to score well so must revise all the topics.
  • Study from useful & recommended books/ materials available online or offline.

NExT 2023 Admit Card

Only those admit cards will be generated online who will successfully complete all the steps of registration. NExT Admit Card 2023 for mock/ practice test will be made available on 21st July 2023. Candidates can download admit cards through online mode only.

Candidates must note that admit card is an important document and must be shown at exam centre to be allowed to appear for mock test. Go through complete instructions mentioned on admit card. In case of any discrepancy in admit card, candidates must immediately raise a query on their dashboard. Communication through other modes will not be entertained.

NExT 2023 Result

The results of NExT 2023 for practice /mock test will be available from July / August 2023. As per the schedule announced by AIIMS, it has been notified that NExT result will be announced separately for CBT & practical or clinical/ viva voce.

Candidates will be able to check results online on the website. Only the candidates declared qualified in CBT will be considered eligible to appear for practical or clinical/ viva voce exam.

NExT 2023 Practical or Clinical/ Viva voce

The Step 2 of NExT will be a practical/ clinical/ viva voce exam which will be held in person by respective State Health Institutions/ Universities. It will comprise of 7 clinical subjects/ disciplines.

The practical exam will be clinical case based, simulated patients/ case aiming to evaluate practical/ clinical skills, clinical decision making & communication skills.
