On 29th September 2025, the National Testing Agency (NTA) issued a notice titled “Advisory and Instructions on Updation of Aadhaar Card/UDID Card/Category Certificate before Filling of Online Application Form for JEE Main 2026.”

The notice advises candidates to ensure that their Aadhaar details, UDID cards, and category certificates are valid and updated to avoid any discrepancies while filling out the JEE Main 2026 application form.

NTA Exam City Selection Process: Rumor or Reality?

Many aspirants connected this advisory with claims that the NTA will decide exam cities based on Aadhaar addresses, assuming the rule would apply to JEE Main 2026 and other NTA exams like NEET and CUET.

However, several known coaching institutions and teachers have stated that this is false and based on rumours.

They have also advised all the aspirants not to believe on news being circulated over social media.

From 10th October 2025, many known news portals and education YouTube channels have been saying and publishing that NTA officials have said that the exam city selection process for JEE Main 2026 remains unchanged candidates will still be able to choose their preferred exam city while filling the application form.

Till now, no official written statement or public notice confirming this clarification has been uploaded on the NTA website. All the candidates are advised not to believe every news being circulated on social media.
