CUET Exam Update: As CUET 2026 approaches, thousands of students across India are preparing to secure admission to undergraduate programs in central and participating universities.
Knowing the exam mode can help candidates plan their CUET preparation strategy and manage time effectively during the test.
Over the years, CUET has evolved in its format, moving from traditional pen-and-paper tests to computer-based assessments. This shift has been aimed at ensuring a standardized testing process, reducing logistical challenges, and improving the efficiency of result evaluation. With such changes, candidates are increasingly focused on understanding the technical and procedural aspects of the exam.
Is the CUET exam online or offline?
CUET 2026 is expected to be conducted fully online. As per the NTA CUET information bulletin, Chapter 2 Examination Scheme (Section 2.1), the exam is held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
Based on previous years, CUET (UG) is conducted in CBT mode only, where candidates attempt the exam on computers at designated exam centres. Since the exam is held in multiple shifts, the NTA uses a normalisation process through its panel to ensure fairness in scores across different sessions.
This method adjusts marks to account for variations in difficulty levels between shifts. CUET 2026 is likely to continue with the same structure. Students are advised to get familiar with the CBT interface and understand the normalisation process to avoid confusion while checking results.
As per the NTA CUET 2026 latest notice the exam will be held in the month of May 2026. All the candidates for the exam will first be required to meet the eligibility criteria and then submit the CUET registration form.
