With the launch of GATE 2026 official website, poster, and information bulletin, the examination process has officially begun.
Candidates interested in taking the examination should note that a few changes have been introduced this year compared to the previous session.
On 05th August 2025, the details regarding the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering session 2026 were announced via online mode. For this session GATE 2026 exam is being conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. GATE Application Fees Increased
For this session the the application fees have been increased for all the categories. ₹100 is increased for Female / SC / ST / PwD candidates, and ₹200 for all other candidates (including foreign nationals).

The GATE 2026 registration will begin on 25th August 2025 (Monday). The last date to complete regular online registration/ application process without late fees is 25th September 2025 (Thursday), and extended online registration with late fees can be done till October 06, 2025 (Monday).
New Section Introduced in GATE 2026
Under the GATE XE Paper Sections, a new sectional paper on Energy Science (XE-I) is being introduced. A candidate is allowed to appear in either one or Up To Two test papers.
IIT Guwahati has recently released a sample question paper with solution for ENERGY SCIENCE (XE-I). Candidates can review it to gain an understanding of the subject.
