Why CBSE Introduced Motu Patlu Comics for School Students?

CBSE partners with Income Tax Department to spread tax awareness through Motu Patlu comics.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a circular encouraging all affiliated schools to share an educational comic book series released by the Income Tax Department.

CBSE, in partnership with the Directorate of Income Tax, has introduced a new comic book series to make tax education simple and engaging for students.

Eight comic books have been released under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative. CBSE’s initiative aims to promote tax literacy and financial awareness among youth.

Why is it necessary for Students?

On the official Income Tax Department website, i.e is incometaxindia.gov.in, all the comics are availabe. The Motu Patlu comics are available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Gujarati languages. There are a total of 08 comics, which are:

  • Motu Patlu – Benefits Of Abiding By The Law
  • Hamaara Bharat Mahan
  • Motu Patlu and Together, We Rise
  • Motu Patlu and The Online Life
  • Motu Patlu and Victory Over Fear
  • Motu Patlu and The Story of Income Tax
  • Motu Patlu and Tax Pari
  • Motu Patlu and The Story of PAN Card

Each comic in the series focuses on a simple but important idea of why taxes matter and how they help the country grow. The stories cover themes like the benefits of paying taxes, why having a PAN card is essential, and why it’s important to follow financial laws.

In one story, Motu Patlu & Tax Pari, a magical character named Tax Pari appears to explain to Motu and Patlu how the money collected through taxes is used to build roads, schools, and hospitals. The story turns the idea of paying taxes into something noble, a shared responsibility that keeps the nation running.

Recently, the board has also released the CBSE board exam 2025- 2026 session datesheet for classes 10th and 12th. The board exam will begin on 17th February 2026.
