Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi

The Indian Research Institute (IARI) commonly known as Pusa Institute. It is India’s premier national institute for Agriculture research and education. It is situated in Delhi; it is financed and administered by the Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR). The IARI has many schools affiliated with the institute. It offered various courses in different fields like Bio-informatics, Bio-chemistry, Agronomy, Microbiology, Nematology, Agriculture, etc.

Campus

The campus of IARI institute spreads over 500 hectares (5.0km.sq.), 8 km west of New Delhi Railway Station. This was initially outside Delhi, but over the decades the city has grown much beyond the campus. It has another affiliated campus situated in IARI institute is IASRI. The campus has a staff colony, guest houses, transportation, security, 24/7 medical facility and many other.

Facilities

The institute of IARI has ASRB online examination facility. The institute established a National Phytotron facility in 1997 to study the response of the plants. The institute has Pesticide Referral Laboratory, Library, instrument facilities, bus facility, gymnasium, auditorium, and large sports ground and college canteen. The institute has many other facilities like hostels, spacious classrooms, workshops, clinical labs, etc.

Programmes

The Indian Research Institute (IARI) provides many courses in different disciplines. It offers courses in various streams. The main courses offered by the institution are Bio-informatics, Water Science & Technology, Biochemistry, Plant Physiology, Agronomy, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Nematology, Agriculture, etc. The Research courses offered in Agriculture department are:

  • Agricultural Statistics

Placement

A Training & Placement cell is designed by the institute for monitoring the student’s skills and studies. The cell guides the students that how to prepare for the top companies. It concentrates on the recruiters expectations from students for the placement procedure. It works on the student’s personality development. The placement cell performs the career counseling and job fairs too. The institute organizes the training sessions on soft skill development annually.
