Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai

The Indian Maritime University was stated through an act of Parliament (Act 22) on 14th November 2008. It is a central university and approved by UGC (University Grants Commission). The Indian Maritime University is also stands for IMU and located in Chennai.

Campus

The Indian Maritime University (IMU) is located on East Coast Road, Uthandi, Chennai. The IMU has five campuses in Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam. This university also has a headquartered in Chennai and the new HQ building is being built on 300 acres of land at Semmancherry village which lies between the Old Mahabalipuram Road and East Coast Road.

Facilities

The IMU provides many facilities to their students such as accommodation for students, well-ventilated and spacious classrooms, internet facility, well-equipped laboratories for all departments, sports facility, computer centre with latest configurations, well-maintained cafeteria, library (well-stocked with books, journals, magazines, etc.), transport facility, grievance cell, spacious auditorium and many more.

The Indian Maritime University (IMU) offers many UG (under graduate) and PG (post graduate) programmes in the field of engineering, nautical science, ship building and repair and many more. The main engineering (B.Tech and M.Tech) courses are offered in the following disciplines:
