Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi was established in the year 1985. The University runs several schools that imparts technical and professional education in various departments. The school of law (SOL) of IGNOU imparts legal education through Open and Distance Learning system. SOL was established in 2005 with the objective to promote distance education in law. The courses offered by IGNOU are recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
