Uttarkahnd Government Planned to Search mythical plant “Sanjeevni Booti”

The search for “Sanjeevni Booti” is back again in Uttharakhand. Previously, many people have claimed to find out the sanjeevni herb, but they have not been successful in it. This time the Uttarakhand Government has taken a major step to search mythical plant “Sanjeevni Booti”. Before proceeding about this matter lets talk about the “Sanjeevni Booti” first.

What is “Sanjeevni Booti”?

The term “Sanjeevni Booti” was mentioned in our famous ancient epic “Ramayana”. It was a mythical herb which healed Lord Ram’s brother Lakshman wounded in the battle against Ravana. Hanuman came searching for the sanjeevni, on being unable to identify the herb, Hanuman lifted the entire hill to bring sanjeevni booti in time.

Previous Searches for “Sanjeevni Booti”

In 2009, under the Bharatiya Janata Party, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank set up a project to search for Sanjeevni with the budget of Rs. 5 to 6 lacs.

In the same year, Baba Ramdev Ashram also claimed to trace the Sanjeevni Booti in Dronagari area. Acharya Balkrishna said that “We discovered two plants of Sanjeevani Booti group at about 15,000 feet in Dronagiri” but the group is silent now about this matter.

Uttarkahnd Government Steps to trace the “Sanjeevni Booti”

Surendra Singh Negi, the minister for medical & health and Ayush (Ayush education) said that “We strongly believe that Sanjeevani exists in Chamoli area of Uttarakhand”.  After that, Surendra Singh Negi held a meeting with Shripad Naik (minister of state for health and family welfare) and they both discussed about Sanjeevni. The minister told the media that no one has been able to find this herb. He also said that “We need funds and expertise to carry our research. The herb could be the answer to various ailments”.

Now, the Uttarakhand government has decided to bring out a new project to search for the mythical plant “Sanjeevni Booti”. The Government has decided to sanction Rs.25 crores to search for the Sanjeevni Booti. Surendra Singh Negi has said that “We have set an initial budget of 250 million rupees ($37 million) for the project”.

The state government will bear all the expenses of this search. The central government had refused to fund this project. According to the minister, work in this project will start in August and the focus area should be Dronagiri range of Himalayas.
