In Australia, the duration of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is 4 years. Two distinct types of Bachelor of Education: Primary and Secondary is offered by majority of the Australian Universities. The course duration varies from country to country.

Once you have completed this course, you can also go for the master courses in this field like M.Ed (Master of Education) offered by various institutions of India. National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) is the organization which monitors study programs on education in the country.

Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) is a title given to teachers who have completed their graduation and training. If you have done postgraduate course like M.A. and also completed B.Ed, then you become a post graduate teacher (PGT).

Duration & Eligibility

Duration:

Previously the duration of B.Ed course was one year now it has been increased to two years. This course can be pursued as a full-time or through distance learning.

Eligibility:

  • Students must have done BA (Bachelor of Arts), B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce), B.Sc (Bachelor of Science) or any other graduation level degree from any recognized university or college.
  • Students should have obtained at least 50% marks in graduation level.
  • You can also join B.Ed degree after pursuing a master’s degree.

What is the scope after completing B.Ed?

Salary

The average salary of a Teacher in India is around Rs.3 lacs per annum. Salaries will be increased with a good experience and degree in the education field.

In a government schools a TGT can earn a salary more than Rs.3 lacs per year and a PGT can get a salary of Rs.4.5 lacs per year. A private school teacher may also earn Rs.4 lakhs per annum with a good experience.
