Introduction

Courses

There are not much specified professional courses for choreography. There are very few schools in India that offer the short-term and diploma courses in choreography.

Many of our celebrities has been opened the classes and schools for providing the training and short-term certification courses and diploma course in choreography.

Choreography is an art which comes under the performing art. There is just one degree in performing art and dance which offers by the few of schools of arts.

There is no requirement of a degree course to become a choreographer. You should have a zeal for this and you may go for the short-term, certificate and diploma courses offer by the various art schools in India.

  • Short term or certificate courses take the duration six months
  • Diploma courses take the duration of 1 – 2 years
  • B.A in Art and Dance takes the duration of three years

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for UG & PG courses in choreography is as discussed below:

For UG Courses:

For admissions into UG courses, you must have passed 12th or equivalent exam in any stream from any recognized board. The duration of UG courses is around three years.

For PG Courses:

If you are looking for admissions in PG courses, you should have obtained a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field from any recognized college or institutions.

Admission

Am I eligible to apply for admission in choreography courses?

To get the admission in the career of dance, you should have to prepare right from the age of around ten years. You need to have zeal of dance with body flexibility. It is a hard-working training. You must have daily exercise.

For admission, you may search one of the best schools of dance, get the contact, follow the admission criterion, filling the form, pay the fees and get a good start. After the completion of the course you may search the right and valid agent and may search the career in various related industries.

The second option to get the career in this field you just find the location of dance auditions in India, then appear the auditions and show your full zeal and performance to get the career opportunity in this field.

Most of the colleges in India, give admissions in choreography courses on the basis of merit list. The merit list is drawn on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying examination. Some colleges also conduct Personal Interview (PI) rounds for providing admissions. Candidates also apply for  Film and Television Institute of India (FTII  JET 2024).

      you should start your career by taking short term courses in Dancing, after learning some basics, you can go for diploma in dancing and choreography.
