Difference between B.Com and B.Com (Hons)

Both are the undergraduate courses in the field of commerce. The level of study of B.Com (Hons) is higher than the regular B.Com. B.Com honors includes specialized subjects whereas B.Com. regular course has general subjects. The subjects in B.com (Hons.) are in detail as compared to regular B.com.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates should have passed higher secondary examination with not less than 50% marks from a recognized board.
  • Candidates having academic background in science, commerce and arts stream are eligible to apply for this course.

Admission

Generally, students are admitted in B.Com on the basis of merit. The merit is prepared on the basis of candidate’s performance in higher secondary examination. Some Universities also conduct the entrance test for admitting students. Besides candidate’s academic knowledge, some colleges conducts interview.

Candidates who wish to pursue MBA after the completion of B.Com have to appear the entrance test namely Common Admission Test (CAT), Management Aptitude Test (MAT), etc. Some institutions also organizes their own entrance exam for giving admission to their colleges.
