Course & Duration

Electrical & electronics engineering is a fast growing and most popular engineering discipline. Electronics engineering and electrical engineering are the close related to this field. The duration of the total course is four to five years.

After completion of UG degree the students are designated as the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech). A bachelor degree usually covers the physics, mathematics, and computer science and project management

There are so many specializations in Electrical & Electronics Engineering but to choose in higher degrees after completion of bachelor degree.

You can choose the Electrical & Electronics Engineering, once you have completed your 10 or 10+2 examination with mathematics and physics.

The academic criterion of Electrical & Electronics Engineering is divided into four courses/programmes as follows:

  • Diploma courses leading to the polytechnic diploma of 3 years duration. (after 10th or 12th)
  • UG courses leading to the B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) degree of 4 years duration. (after 12th)
  • PG courses leading to the M.Tech (Master of Technology) degree of 2 years duration. (after graduation)
  • Doctoral courses leading to the PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) degree of ½ – 1 years duration (after post graduation)

The undergraduate syllabus includes major subjects of electromagnetics, network analysis, electronic devices and circuits, signals and systems, control systems, analog and digital communications.

Specialization (Sub-disciplines)

Electrical & Electronics Engineering has the following specializations:

  • Software
  • Electronics
  • Signal Processing
  • Computer Engineering
  • Power Electronics
  • Communications
  • Nanotechnology
  • Embedded Systems
  • Biomedical Imaging
  • Hardware

Admission

For admission to UG programme, the student must have to appear in JEE Main 2024 or CUET 2024 and for a PG programme he/she must appear the GATE 2024.

Students can apply for JEE Main after passing their 12th/intermediate examination for admission into 4-years Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programme. Students seeking for admission in IITs have to clear JEE Advanced 2024 after qualifying JEE Main. After getting bachelor’s degree in engineering, students will be eligible for GATE which provides admission into M.Tech course.

There are also various state and University level entrance exams for admission into electrical and electronics engineering:

  • VITEEE 2024 (VIT Engineering Entrance Examination)
  • VITMEE 2024 (VIT University Master’s Entrance Examination)
  • AP EAMCET 2024 (Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test)
  • TS EAMCET 2024 (Telangana Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test)
  • BCECE 2024 Board organizes BCECE (Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination)

In India, Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and National Institute of Technology (NITs) are considered best for pursuing engineering courses.

    1. In EEE, students have to study Electrical as well as Electronics. It is the study and application of electrical systems for use in different environments and contains basic electronic courses and more power system. whereas:
In EC aspirants deal with Electronics with some part of communication. The subject uses the scientific knowledge of the behaviour and effects of electrons to develop devices, systems, or equipment that uses electricity as part of its driving force. Also it contains basics on electrical machines and more on integrated circuits and communication systems.
