Courses & Eligibility

In Indian education system, the value of the courses in the field of fire & safety has been increasing since the courses started. This education is not provided by the large number of colleges or the institutions in India. There are few colleges or institutions which are providing the various courses in the field of fire and safety.

For the convenience of the students and by the view of expanding the knowledge about fire & safety among the students of any level, the courses have been molded in the following types:

  • Certificate courses for the duration of 6 months
  • Advanced certificate courses for the duration of 6 months
  • Diploma courses for the duration of 1 year
  • Advanced diploma courses for the duration of 1 year
  • PG diploma courses for the duration of 1 year
  • UG degree courses for the duration of 3 years
  • PG degree courses for the duration of 2 years

Besides these courses, there are some other international courses for the duration of some days, available in India such as the following:

  • OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration)
  • IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health)
  • NASP (National Association of Safety Professionals)
  • IASP (International Association of Safety professionals)

In all courses provided in India or abroad, the students are taught and trained about the safety and laws, safety management, safety engineering, control procedure, occupational hygiene and health, environmental education, fire types, extinguisher type and usages, fire engineering, mock drills and disaster management.

Admission

To get the admission in above courses, the eligibility criterion is different for each one. The student having the HSC level education or above can pursue the certificate course and diploma course. For the advanced certificate courses and the advanced diploma courses, the students need to pass the SSC/ITI level education.

Few institutions offer the UG degree programme leading to the B.Sc in fire and safety and B.Tech in fire engineering, and the PG diploma programme in the same field. For admissions in B.Tech courses, you can appear in the JEE Main 2024, CUET 2024 national level exam. The admission to UG programme and the PG diploma is based on the entrance examination. You can apply for GATE 2024 for PG courses.

The new educational programme is emerging in safety leading to the MBA in safety management.

It is one of the most paid, most respectful and most responsible careers. Safety precautions are now mandatory in all establishments. There are plenty of jobs in fire and safety field. Safety is an integral part of our daily life.
