JEE Advanced 2017 Counselling Suspended – Ordered by Supreme Court

JEE Advanced 2017 ResultOn 7th July 2017, the Honorable Supreme Court of India has stayed the admission process to the IITs, all over the country. As per the petition filled by IIT student named Aishwarya Agarwal, had sought the court’s decision to declare that the awarding of “Bonus Marks” to candidates who had appeared in the JEE Advanced 2017 exam was wrong and violated her and as well as other students rights.

The petition also sought a direction from the court for the preparation of a new All India Rank (AIR) List after rectifying the scores and also award marks for the incorrect/misprinted questions (Hindi Paper) to the candidates who had given the right answers.

Bonus marks in the questions were given due to printing error in the Hindi language paper. As per the petition filed, IIT-Madras had decided to award 18 bonus marks to all the aspirants appearing in the examination, whether they had attempted the questions or not.

The SC decision applies to all institutions that used the JEE Advanced 2017 scores for providing admissions. A bench of Justices Dipak Misra and A M Khanwilkar said that now any petition in respect of the JEE Advanced will not be entertained in any High Court in the country. Next hearing on this matter will be done on Monday (10th July 2017).
