Government Medical College, Patiala

Government Medical College, Patiala is affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot and was established in the year 1953. The institution is approved by Medical Council of India (MCI). The institution offers a variety of undergraduate courses in nursing, medicine and related areas and offers postgraduate courses in all the basic and clinical medical super-specialities.

Programmes

Government Medical College offers undergraduate and postgraduate programme in the medical field. The institution offers undergraduate programme in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme and postgraduate course in the field of MD programme. The duration of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme is four and a half years with the compulsory internship of one year while the duration of the MD programme is two years.

Internship

All the students pursuing Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme has to do the compulsory rotational internship of one year. It refers to one-year compulsory work in the hospital attached to a medical college or in any other approved hospital as allowed in some medical colleges (also known as teaching hospital) for one year.
