Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Udhampur, is a private aided university established in the year 1999. The university receives its funding from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The university is a deemed university under the University ACT, 1999 of the J&K State Legislature (ACT No. XII of 1999 dated 12th May 1999) as an autonomous, University. The SMDV University is approved by UGC and recognized by AICTE New Delhi.
SMVDU is located in the Udhampur city of Jammu & Kashmir. The university is located in a serene and a peaceful environment. The university campus is spread in an area of 470 acres in the lap of Trikuta hills. The university is fully covered by plantation, and trees making the place highly commendable for learning.
