Birsa Institute of Technology Sindri, Dhanbad
Birsa Institute of Technology, popularly known as BIT Sindri, is the government engineering college located in Jharkhand state. The college was established in the year 1949 under the name of the College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at Patna. But later in the year 1950 it was shifted to Sindri and therefore known as BIT Sindri. The college is affiliated to Vinoba Bhave University and approved by AICTE New Delhi.
Campus:
The college is located in the industrial town Sindri of Dhanbad district (Jharkhand) . The college has a sprawling campus of 400 acres surrounded by lush green outfields and serene surroundings. The institute is located at a distance of 28 kms from the Dhanbad railway station, from the station to the college campus local taxis and bus transport facility is available round the clock.
Facilities:
The college has well equipped labs and workshops, spacious and ventilated classrooms, computer centre with internet facility for staff and students, seminar hall, central library having 100000 texts, and reference books of various disciplines of science, engineering and technology housed in this library. The college also provides hostel facility, sports and gymnasium facility, canteen and mess facility, medical facility etc.
Activities:
The major activities that are organized in the college include Arts Club, Social and Cultural events, Sports Meet, Eco Club, Annual Fest etc.

The college is offering 10 courses in the graduate engineering disciplines; and 5 courses in the postgraduate engineering disciplines. The college is also offering doctorate programs in various disciples. The courses offered by the college are approved by AICTE and affiliated to Vinoba Bhave University.
