Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai

Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College (Dr.AGLC), Chennai (also known as Government Law College or GLC,Chennai) was started in the year 1891.It is the prestigious college formerly known as Madras Law college affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University. The college has been approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI), New Delhi.

Campus

The campus of Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College is situated within the campus of High Court of Madras. It is located in the heart of the Chennai city.  The campus is well-connected by roads and is easily approached by various modes of transportation.

Facilities

The campus provides in-house hostel facilities to both girls and boys. The hostels are fully secured and well-equipped with mess facility. The college has a library that has a rich collection of books, journals and online databases. The college conducts national moot court competitions, national seminars and state level workshops. Students also have access to outdoor and indoor games such as table tennis, carom, and chess. These activities enable holistic development of the students. The classrooms in the college are well-lightened and airy provides the learning efficiently.

Programmes

The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate law courses. It offers fully residential 5-years B.A.LL.B and 3-years LL.B. to the eligible candidates. 3-year law graduates are eligible to take admission in master of laws offered by the college. Admission

Students are admitted to the law courses of Dr.AGLC based on their performance in the qualifying examination. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of candidate’s academic record in qualifying examination. Selection will be done based on merit followed by counselling.
