Government Engineering College, Banaskantha

Government Engineering College (GEC), Banaskantha is well-known as the GEC, Palanpur. The institution has been started in the year 2009 by the government of Gujarat. The institution is affiliated to the Gujarat Technological University. The college is approved by the DTE Gujarat and AICTE, New Delhi.

Campus:

At the earlier stage, the college was started at the government polytechnic campus in Palanpur using its resources in term of infrastructure, labs and faculties. In the year 2013, the college was shifted to its own premises in Palanpur. The campus of GEC is sited on the Palanpur – Ahmedabad Highway in district Banaskantha, Gujarat. The campus is 135 km away from the Ahmedabad Airport. The GEC campus is housed in eight blocks spread over in 10 acres of land.

Students & Faculty:

The college offers 240 seats in all four programmes as intake of 60 students in each programme. The GEC, Palanpur has a squad of around 24 faculty members from all departments.

Facilities:

The GEC, Palanpur provides the central conference hall with seating capacity of 50 persons, separate building for each department and each having a separate computer centre, classrooms, tutorial halls, seminar hall and laboratories. The college has a central library, workshops, canteen, gymkhana, students store and girl’s room.

Activities:

The campus organizes the IGNITE event for putting and sharing the new innovation and ideas. The college organizes the sports week and seminars to update the moral and physical skills of the students.

Programmes:

The GEC, Palanpur is conducting the four B.Tech engineering degree programmes in following disciplines:

  • Civil engineering
  • Electrical engineering
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Mining engineering

Placement:

The institution has a recruitment cell inside the campus which provides the counselling for job placement, entrepreneurship skills, opportunity to higher learning and career goal.
