Madurai Medical College, Madurai was established in the year 1954. The institution is attached with the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai, Tanil Nadu, India that acts as a teaching institution for the college. The medical college is affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi.
The campus of the college is stretched to the land area of around 18.93 acres. The institution is situated in medical college road, Alwarpuram of Madurai. Madurai is the ancient city located in Tamil Nadu state.
The college has advanced infrastructure equipped with ultramodern facilities. The availability of separate boys and girls hostel in the campus premises with well-established mess that serves vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian food. There is separate hostel facility for postgraduate students. The central library is equipped with reading materials. The air-conditioned study hall is available for the UG and PG students as well as for faculties also. The campus houses a large playground for outdoor games and also has courts for indoor games. Madurai Medical College, Madurai regulates undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in medicine and pharmacy field. In addition to this, it also runs diploma and various certificate courses. The MBBS course offered by the college is of five and a half years course (including one year mandatory internship). The college admits 155 students to this course per year.
