Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly was established in the year 1975 as an affiliating university with name as Rohilkhand University. In the year 1997 it has been renamed as Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University. Now it is a UP state Government Public University. It is approved by the state government and UGC. The University has the department of legal studies that provides law education to students.
Campus
The campus of the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University is sprawling over 206 acres of land of rural area in the outskirt of the Bareilly city on Pilibhit By Pass Road. The campus is 7 km away from the Bareilly Railway Station. The campus is well-connected by the local transport as well as the university transportation. It is also a residential university.

The campus comprise in academic buildings, administrative blocks, central library, faculty building, hostel for boys and girls, multipurpose hall, staff quarters, guest house, sports complex and medical centre.

The campus has 12 faculty departments which are offering the UG and PG courses (47 courses) in various field of vocational and professional education. The admission to the technical courses is done on the basis of UPSEE exam result and rank. The campus offers B.Tech degree courses in six disciplines which are as the following:
