Thanjavur Medical College (TMC) is the renowned medical college of Tamil Nadu established in the year 1958. Dr. Rajendra Prashad has laid down the foundation of the medical college. The institution is affiliated to the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. It is managed and supervised by the Government of Tamil Nadu. All the courses run by the college are approved by Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi.
Campus
The campus of the college is situated in South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located at western edge of Thanjavur city of Tamil Nadu. The campus spreads over an area of 1 km2. The Thanjavur Medical College Hospital (TMCH) is the associated hospital of the medical college.
Facilities
The college has several facilities that include sufficiently loaded library that has a vast collection of books, journals and magazines, highly ventilated lecture halls, fully furnished hostels for both girls and boys, well-managed canteen and cafeteria, sports facilities, transportation facility for students, heath care and clinical facilities available in the affiliated hospitals of the college. The college has separate labs of different departments provided with latest equipments.
Programmes
The institution offers full-time Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme. The course comprises of 4 and a half year academic education and 1 year of rotatory internship after the successful completion of final degree examinations. Also, the college offers 3-year MS/MD programe in various disciplines.
