Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences is a premier medical college offering various courses in the medical field. The institution was established in the year 1961 and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The institution is approved by Medical Council of India (MCI).

Campus

The institution is situated in Cantonment, Ballari. The campus is spread in an area of 173 acres of land and provides a perfect ambience to the students for their study and growth.

Facilities

The institution has a library which has a collection of books, journals, magazines and periodicals. It has a well-facilitated computer centre, air-conditioned lecture theatres which are equipped with LCD, overhead projector and OHP. The institution provides separate residential facilities for boys and girls. Programme

Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences offers undergraduate and postgraduate programme in the medical field. The institution offers undergraduate course in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme. The duration of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme is four and a half years with a compulsory rotational internship training of one year while the duration of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme is four years with the compulsory training of one year. The institution also offers postgraduate courses in MD (Doctor of Medicine) and MS (Master of Surgery) programme for the duration of three years.
