NEET (National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test) was last conducted in the year of 2013. In 2013, some states opposed the NEET including the Association of Karnataka Medical Colleges and Tamil Nadu is saying that it is illegal and unconstitutional. Then, the Supreme Court scrapped the NEET & give permission to state government organizes their own entrance exam separately. On 28th April 2016, the Hon’ble Supreme Court approved the order to again organize NEET all over the India as a single medical entrance exam. NEET is conducted for admission into MBBS and BDS courses across the country. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) supervised NEET in two phases. NEET 2016 Phase I (AIPMT for the year 2016) was already conducted on 1st May 2016 & NEET Phase II will be held on 24th July 2016.
NEET Vs State/Private Medical Entrance Exams
In India, approx 70 to 80 state/university entrance exam is conducted for MBBS/BDS courses. The ordinance issued that admissions into medical and dental courses for academic year 2016 by private medical exams or universities will be done based on NEET 2016. NEET replaces various university entrance exams that are managed by various institutions. States now have the option of either conducting their own exam or be part of the NEET to fill 85 percent of the Under Graduate (UG) medical and dental seats. 15 percent of the remaining seats will be filled through NEET route by all India counselling. However, for PG courses, the exam will be held under NEET for 2017-18 session, in December this year.
Scrapped Examination
The Ordinance was brought in to provide for a uniform entrance examination for UG and PG admissions with a provison that for UG admission for the year 2016-17 only, the state government seats (both in government and private medical colleges) shall be exempt from the purview of NEET regulations if the State so opts. Here, we are providing the scrapped examination list that is replaced by the NEET.

NEET Examination
NEET is a National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test. NEET is held in two phases: NEET Phase I & NEET Phase II. The result will be declared on 17th August 2016 for both stages. The Admission procedure will be completed on 30th September 2016. NEET is already implemented and the second phase will be held on 24 July.
NEET Phase I
The NEET Phase I was already conducted on 1st May 2016. AIPMT is renamed as NEET Phase I. The entrance exam was contain 180 multiple choice questions based on Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
NEET Phase II
The NEET Phase II will be held on 24th July 2016. Candidates who have appeared/not-appeared for AIPMT 2016 (NEET Phase I) they can apply and appear for NEET Phase II. The application form will be available from the 1st week of June 2016. This entrance exam pattern is same as NEET Phase I (AIPMT).
