NTA 2020: JEE Main & NEET to be Conducted by CBT Mode

NTA 2020NTA will be conducting the national level entrance examinations like JEE Main, NEET, GPAT, UGC NET and CMAT for 2020 session. NTA has released the complete exam dates for various exams conducted by the authority itself. JEE Main will be held twice in a year. Through the formation of NTA (National Testing Agency), the burden on various exams conducting authorities to conduct various entrance tests are removed. Below we have mentioned details about the various examinations to be conducted by NTA.

NTA 2020

National Testing Agency (NTA) is a legal body assigned by the government of India to conduct various entrance examinations which were previously organized by the exam conducting authorities like AICTE & CBSE. NTA will conduct the entrance test of JEE Main and UGC NET twice in a year. NEET, CMAT & GPAT is conducted once in a year. Candidates now have the option of choosing date for the examination held over various days.

NTA Organizes JEE Main 2020

JEE Main 2020 exam will be managed by the NTA. Till 2018 the entrance test was organized by the CBSE Board.

The JEE Main 2020 entrance test will be conducted two times in a year in January 2020 and in April 2020 session.

The exam will be organized in online CBT mode on various dates. The changes made by NTA in JEE Main 2020 is that it is conducting two times in a year. Also, there is changes in the exam pattern and application fee of JEE Main.

JEE Main is conducted to offer admission in various IITS, NITs and CFTIs institutions. Candidates will be applicable for admission into these colleges if they have attained at least 75% marks or they are in the top 20 percentile in the 12th level examination. For ST/SC candidates the minimum qualifying marks are 65%.

NTA Organizes NEET 2020

NEET entrance test is organized by the NTA from the year 2019. Previously the test was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). NEET 2020 examination is expected to be conducted in online mode twice in a year, however it is yet to be confirmed by the officials.

The examination will be conducted on 3rd May 2020. NEET entrance test is conducted to provide admission in various medical courses offered by various renowned medical Institutions across the country.

The responsibility of the authority NTA is limited to the examination conduction, result declaration and providing All India rank. On the basis of AIQ the further counselling process will be organized by the respective authority.

NTA Organizes Other Exams (GPAT, UGC NET & CMAT)

Besides NEET and JEE Main examinations, National testing Agency (NTA) also manages various other entrance tests like GPAT, UGC NET and CMAT. NTA conduct these national level entrance tests through online mode (Computer Based Test).


CMAT 2020 is a national level exam conducted once in every year to offer admission into various management programs. The exam was earlier conducted by the authority of AICTE as per the directions of MHRD, Govt. of India.


GPAT 2020 is a national test organized once in every year to offer admission in M.Pharm programs in various AICTE approved Universities and colleges. NTA has taken the responsibility of conducting the GPAT exam from the year 2019.

UGC NET is an entrance test conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian Nationals for Assistant professor or Junior Research Fellowship and eligibility for Assistant professor both in Indian colleges and Universities. UGC NET 2019 will be conducted by NTA from 2nd – 6th December 2019 (December session). UGC NET 2020 exam will be conducted from 15th to 20th June 2020 (June Session).

    The person who has applied for JEE main (on behalf of me) has mentioned the category as General instead of OBC (by mistake)

    my NTA is 74.6%

    Is there any way to change the category now or will it impact while joining any of the NIT colleges
