Thapar University 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must go through the complete Thapar University 2027 eligibility criteria below:
For B.E/ B.Tech Programme:
- Qualifying Exam: Applying candidates must pass 10+2 or equivalent exam.
- Subjects: In the qualifying exam, one must have Physics, Mathematics and any one out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject.
- Marks: Minimum 60% marks in PCM/ PCB. 55% marks for SC/ST candidates.
- Entrance Test: One secure qualifying rank in JEE Main.
- Candidates appearing in 2027, can also apply for admission.
For MBA Programme:
- Qualifying Exam: One with Graduation degree or PG degree in any stream can apply.
- Marks: In qualifying exam, 50% minimum marks or equivalent CGPA required. 5% relaxation for PwD, SC & ST candidates applicable.
- Final year appearing candidates can also apply for admission.
- CA/ ACS/ ICWA candidates can apply for admission.
- Applying candidates must have a valid CAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ GMAT/ TMAT (Thapar Management Aptitude Test).
For B.E (Lateral Entry):
- Nationality: One must be a citizen of India to be eligible for admission.
- Qualification: Applying candidates must pass a diploma, in any discipline of minimum 4 years duration after matriculation from a polytechnic college/ institute affiliated with State Board of Technical Education/ University or recognized by UGC/ AICTE. OR
- One with a diploma, in any discipline of minimum 2 year duration after 10+2 from polytechnic colleges/ institutes affiliated with the State Board of Technical Education/ University, or recognized by UGC/ AICTE to apply.
- Marks: In qualifying exam, one with minimum of 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) in aggregate or equivalent grade point can apply.
Thapar University 2027 Admission Procedure
Admission procedure for Thapar University 2027 will be organised for eligible candidates. To get admission in TIET (Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology), candidates can apply via merit list or entrance exam organized by the university or other national level test. Also, TIET offers direct admission to candidates on the subject of fulfilling the eligibility criteria besides merit list.
Institute will offer the admission subject to seat availability. Those candidates who have not appeared in the JEE Main 2027 can also be considered for admission in some branches. Such candidates will be required to appear in the TIET entrance exam.
Candidates will get admitted in B.E/ B.Tech programs based on prescribed criteria of JEE Main 2027 and 10+2 PCM. applicants will be required to fill application form one time only and on the basis of a single application form, that can seek admission through any mode.
Based on the merit of All India Rank (AIR) of JEE Main – 2027 admission will be done. On the basis of merit list of JEE Main – 2027/ 10+2 PCM. Moreover, on the basis of merit of JEE Main – 2027/ NEET – 2027/ 10+2 PCM/ 10+2 PCB.
Thapar University Entrance Test 2027
Usually, Thapar University will provide admission through national level entrance exam such as JEE Main, GATE, XAT, MAT, etc. But in case of vacant seats or some courses, it conducts its own entrance exam such as TMAT (Thapar Management Aptitude Test), TIET entrance test, etc. Those qualified candidates in the exam will have to go through the interview process.
Thapar University 2027 Result/ Merit List

Once the result of JEE Main-2027/ 10+2 is announced, the BE/ BTech counselling schedule will be announced on the website. Branch allocation in online rounds of counselling will be as per the merit category wise set availability and branch preference order filled in application form.
On Roll Candidates (ORC) are those who have deposited the full fee and have not withdrawn their seats. Candidates-Not-On-Roll (CNOR) are those who have withdrawn their seats after depositing full fee. While allotting branch/ discipline in the online rounds of counselling (2nd/ 3rd/ 4th and so on lists), only ORC and candidates not offered seats will be considered in all the subsequent lists on the basis of merit.
Seat allotment of discipline will be made on the basis of the seat availability in particular discipline and category, the order of preference for various disciplines given by the candidates, and his/ her merit. Those candidates depositing total fee must enter complete details in ‘Fee Confirmation-Slip’ (FCS) available at the Institute website on or before the respective prescribed last date.
