Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi 

Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi popularly known as BHU is a public central University formerly known as Central Hindu College. The University was started in 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya. It is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC). There are 4 institutes and 16 faculties of BHU. It has Institute of Medical sciences (IMS) that promotes medical pedagogy in various fields. The law school of BHU offers full-time and part-time law courses. The institutes of agricultural sciences offers UG, PG and doctoral courses in the field of agriculture.

Campus

The state-of-the-art campus of BHU is situated in Varanasi near the banks of river Ganges. The main campus of University covers the huge area of around 1,300 acres. The BHU, South campus is spread over 2,700 acres of land and houses Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Agriculture Science Centre). It is located in Barkachha of Mizapur district that is 60 kms far away from Banaras. The planning is undergoing to set up campus in Bihar state also.

Facilities

The University provides the accommodation facilities to the students. The students are accommodated to 60 hostels of the University. The housing facility is also available for faculty members. The guest house with attached kitchen facility for guests. The campus also houses the teaching hospital namely Sri Sunderlal Hospital that provides health services and also enable the students to practice medical learning. The students are also encouraged to take parts in cultural activities.
