Bhilai Institute of Technology, Durg

The Bhilai Institute of Technology (BIT) is the first self-financed institute of India. The institute was established in the year 1986 with four UG engineering disciplines and 180 seating capacity. The institute is approved by the AICTE and affiliated to the Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University. The institution is accredited by the ISO 9001:2008 certification.


The campus of the BIT Durg is located at the doorsill of the Durg city. The campus is located on the national highway 6 in Chhattisgarh state. The campus is situated in Bhilai House opposite of Circuit House. The campus spreads over in 62 Hectare of land. The campus is well-connect by the local transport to the every part of the city and also connect with Durg Bus Depot and Railway Station.


The campus is embraced in 5 blocks as administrative and departmental blocks. The campus has an auditorium, open air theatre, labs and workshop, computer lab for each department, central library containing more than 27000 volumes, a central computer centre and sports complex including cricket ground and basketball court.


The BIT Durg offers seven UG and 3 PG programmes in the field of engineering and technology, a PG course in computer application and a master degree course in business administration. Besides this the campus also caters the research programmes in engineering and technology. At present the campus is boasting around 800 students from all departments. The main engineering disciplines are as the following:

The BIT Durg has a well-established training & placement cell for providing the final placement to the candidates. The TP cell also organizes and conducts the industrial training, career planning and development, personality development, interview preparation and communication skills development programmes. The top recruiters of the institution are Wipro, L&T ltd., India bulls, Tata, Tech Mahindra, Philips, Yamaha, Apollo Tires, Accenture, HDFC Bank, Satyam, Birla soft, Areva and Infosys.
