The Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management & Technology is the first non-governmental engineering institute in the state of Assam. This institute is established on 7th September 2006 by the Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society. It was started with the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to the Gauhati University. The Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management & Technology is also stands for GMIT. The institution offers full-time residential MBA and engineering courses in various disciplines.
Campus
Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management & Technology (GMIT) is located in Azara, Guwahati on the National Highway (NH) No.37. The nearest railway station is Guwahati Railway Station, which is just 16 Km away from the institute and the nearest airport is L.G.B. International airport which is 5 Km away from the GMIT. The GMIT campus is spread over 5 acres of land near Deepor Beel.
Facilities
This institute provides hostel facility to their students (separately for boys and girls). It also provides well equipped canteen, Education loan, transport facility, central library (equipped with textbooks, reference books and other reference sources like encyclopedias, dictionaries, novels, biographies etc.), central computing facility, department wise laboratory and many more.
