The Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology (GCECT) is also known as College of Ceramic Technology established in the year 1941 as an education and research institute in Kolkata. The college is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology and later on upgraded to an academically autonomous postgraduate institute by UGC. Also the GCECT has been recognized to NAAC Grade ‘A’ with a score of 3.18 CGPA in May 2015.

Campus

The campus of GCECT is situated in Beliaghata city. The GCECT campus consists of academic building, main building, old building and annexed building where various rooms, laboratories, halls, library, placement cell are located. The campus of GCECT is reachable by roads in Kolkata.

Facilities

The GCECT offers all basic facilities to their students such as Central Computer Centre equiped with wi-fi connectivity and multimedia projection, labs for each department, workshop, canteen, auditorium and library.

The college specializes in Ceramic Technology where undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are conducted in various disciplines. The undergraduate B. Tech programmes are in following disciplines:

The Training and Placement Cell of this Institute is launched for successfully met the needs of different sectors of the corporate Industry. The Campus Recruitment Programme, organized every year in the second to last semester of the B.Tech Programme. The final year students of Ceramic Technology in past years have already undergone 100% recruitment in various prominent companies like Essar Steel, Steel Authority of India, MECON, Saint Gobain Glass, Jindal South West Steel, Grindwell Norton, Tata Refractories and more. The corporate MNCs that visited this college for recruiting B.Tech students of IT and CSE in the year 2011 had been offered the highest salary package of about 4.5 lakh and the average salary about 3.0 lakh and the B. Tech in Ceramic Technology students got about Rs.6.98 lakh and an average salary package of Rs.3.00 lakh.
