Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi

Indian Institute of Technology, (Banaras Hindu University) was established during the days of freedom struggle by Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji. He had established three colleges in India during that time named Banaras Engineering College in 1919, Mining and Metallurgy College in 1923 and College of Technology in 1932. Later on when India got freedom, these all three institutes were merged in the year 1971 and formed Institute of Technology (IT-BHU). Now institute has been accredited as “National institute of importance” and has been upgraded as Indian Institute of Technology, (BHU). Institute is fully affiliated and authorized to award the degree by University Grant Commission, (UGC). Institute is approved and administered by the Minister of MHRD, New Delhi, government of India as chairman of IIT Council.

Campus:

Indian Institute of Technology, (Banaras Hindu University) is lying in the Main Campus of BHU- Banaras Hindu University. Campus situated near to the Bank of Holy River Ganga in Varanasi District of Uttar Pradesh. Institute is well-connected by air, rail and road beside the conveyance facility provided by the campus.

Programmes:

Indian Institute of Technology, (Banaras Hindu University) offers nine UG courses, 3 integrated programmes, 11 dual degree programmes and 32 PG degree programs in various fields of engineering and technology, pharmaceutical and applied science. Facilities:

The campus provides all required facilities and amenities for the students as well as for faculties like, gymkhana, well-equipped laboratories, computer lab connected with internet facility, central library rich with many volumes, canteen, cafeteria, seminar hall, auditorium, indoor and outdoor sports facility, separate hostel for boys and girls and transportation.

Activities:

The campus conducts the annual national level technical festival named “magnum opus”, an annual national level cultural festival “Kashi Yatra”, an annual national theatre festival “abhivyakti” and an annual national level sports festival “Spardha”.

Placement:

Indian Institute of Technology, (Banaras Hindu University) has been providing the job placements for its students since inception through its well-established training and placement cell.
