Manipur University, Manipur

Manipur University, Manipur is teaching cum-affiliating University located at Canchipur, Imphal, the capital city of Manipur. The Manipur University was founded on 5 June, 1980 under the Manipur Act 1980; the University is converted into the central University in 13 October, 2005. Manipur University is the state University of Manipur, approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Campus

The Campus of Manipur University covers the large area of 287 acres of land, situated at Canchipur, the old palace in Manipur. Total 72 colleges are affiliated with the Manipur University with one constituent college i.e. Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT).

Facilities

Manipur University provides the facility of indoor and outdoor video programmes as it has the centre for the purpose of shooting, editing and recording of video programmes. The library of the college accommodates large number of books of around 1, 20,000 including national and international journals. In addition to this, the University houses the heath centre, separate hostels for both girls and boys with mess facility that provides nutritious foods at affordable rates, banking and postal facility on campus and availability of buses for students and faculty members.

Programmes

The University offers the doctoral courses, UG/PG programs and postgraduate diploma courses. 4-year full-time Bachelor of Engineering is proposed by the University in following disciplines:

  • Electronics and Communication Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

Placement

The placement division of the college looks after the placement of students. Also, provides the training to the students that focuses on the technical and communication skills of the students.
