National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela
National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela is a centrally funded engineering college located in the steel city of Rourkela in Odhisa. The college was established in the year 1961, with the name Regional Engineering College Rourkela (REC Rourkela). The NIT, Rourkela is one of the 30 NIT established in India and recognized as the institute of national importance by the NIT Act, 2007. The Institution also runs management programmes.
The college campus of NIT, Rourkela is located in eastern part of Rourkela city and spread in the area of over 1024 acres making it largest engineering campus of the country. The government of Odhisa has provided the land for the construction of college campus. The college campus is well connected by road and rail transport and situated at a distance 7 km from railway station.
