Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) is one of the seven regional engineering colleges. The SVNIT was established in the year 1961 as a joint enterprise of the state government of Gujarat and the government of India. The institution has awarded as the Deemed to be University in 2003 and is authorized to award the degrees. The SVNIT has been recognized as an Institute of National Importance and approved by the UGC and MHRD, Government of India.

Campus:

The SVNIT campus is spread over in 248 acres of land on the Surat – Dumas Highway, opposite Ichchhanath Temple at Piplod in the outskirt of the Surat, the district of Gujarat. The campus is just 10 km away from the Surat Railway Station.

Students & Faculty:

The current intake capacity of the institution for admission in all programmes is 426. The SVNIT has more than 182 faculty members from all departments out of which 111 faculty members are PhD holders.

Facilities:

The campus provides the central computer centre and a central library. The campus has one bank & two ATM, canteen, day care centre for the children of the staff and faculty, guest house, dispensary, post office, security force, six hostels for boys’, one hostel for girls’, 191 staff quarters, students’ store, playground, entrepreneurship development cell and physical education centre.

Activities:

The campus organizes annual events on education, sports, culture and curricular as autumn fest, Mind bends, Sparsh, Prakriti and MMNCT. The campus conducts the sports competition, national conferences, convocation and seminars.

Programmes:

The SVNIT conducts B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc and PhD programmes in various disciplines in the field of engineering & technology and applied science. All courses are approved by the AICTE and accredited by the NBA. The main engineering disciplines offered by the SVNIT are as the following:

Placement:

The SVNIT has separate and active Training & Placement section which works to provide the job placement for the students. The campus has a good placement record. Google, Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Infosys, Deloitte, Capgemini, Atos Origin, Accenture, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Wipro are some of the top recruiters of the institution.
