Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra

Sarojini Naidu Medical College (SNMC), Agra was founded by the Lt. Governor Sir James Thomson in the year of 1854. The college is attached to the hospital that is named as Sarojini Naidu Hospital. The SNMC is affiliated to the Dr.BR Ambedkar University, Agra and recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI).

Campus

The SNMC is located in the center of the city in Moti Katra, Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The campus is situated in the adjacent to main Mahatma Gandhi Road. The college have a separate blocks and buildings for various departments. The campus is spread in a total area of 24.49 acres. From one side the college campus is surrounded by District Women Hospital (known as Lady Lyoll Hospital).

Facilities

The college has three hostels for under graduate students and two hostels for post graduates students. Separate Boys and Girls hostels for UG and PG students. The SNMC has a central library with the internet services with broadband facility. The library has a well-stock of books, journals, thesis, newspapers, magazines and projects. The college also offers the facilities like as cyber cafe, canteen, classrooms, conference hall, seminar hall, sports and auditorium. There is a 5 lecture theaters out of which 2 are air-conditioned with different seating capacity.

Programmes

Sarojini Naidu Medical College (SNMC), Agra provides Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). There are total 123 seats are provided to the MBBS students. MBBS programme is spread over 4 ½ academic years that is divided into three phrases.

Internship

After the completion of the MBBS programme, all the students have to undertake one year rotating internship. After satisfactory completion of the internship, students are awarded the M.B.B.S degree only. The main aim of the internship programme is to provide practical training to the students in patient-care and health care of the community.
